This Dementia Awareness Week, we are incredibly proud of our wonderful Activities Coordinator, Tammy, who on 6th June will be taking on the challenge of walking 26 miles along the Jurassic Coast💙

Tammy is raising money for the amazing Alzheimer's Society, helping to support those living with dementia and raising awareness of a condition that affects so many people across the UK.

World Bee Day🐝

To celebrate World Bee Day, we joined Tammy to create beautiful little bee baths/feeding dishes for the garden. Using air-drying clay, everyone designed flower-inspired dishes to help attract our busy bee visitors😆

Everyone carefully added different levels and textures so the bees have safe little spots to stand while having a drink, how thoughtful is that?

Now comes the hardest part… the waiting game! We’re waiting for the clay to fully dry before we paint our creations and place them around the garden for the bees to enjoy🧑‍🎨

World Baking Day was in full swing at our weekly Cooking Club👨‍🍳

Our talented bakers rolled up their sleeves and took on the challenge of making homemade bread from scratch, including a delicious herb focaccia and a classic white cob😋

After lots of kneading, mixing, and patient proving, the results were absolutely worth it… soft, squishy, golden loaves fresh from the oven😆

But the big question is… what’s the best part about baking? The smell? The satisfaction? Or finally getting to taste your hard work?

Our group enjoyed their freshly baked bread, dipped in oil, with supper, before finishing with warm, homemade bread served alongside soup. Nothing beats bread fresh from the oven🍞

Having our very own on-site minibus means we can help make so many of our residents’ wishes come true✨

From a relaxing trip to the local garden centre, to taking a walk down memory lane by revisiting places filled with special memories, every outing is an opportunity for smiles, stories, and new adventures🚌

We love getting to know our residents, their favourite places, treasured memories, and the little things that make them happy!

Meet Tammy, our wonderful Activities Coordinator at Wimborne Manor💛

Since joining us when the home first opened last year, Tammy has brought energy, compassion and plenty of fun to everyday life for our residents!

With over 8 years in care, Tammy believes activities are so much more than entertainment. They’re about connection, confidence, friendship and creating a real sense of community🥰

As Tammy says, moving into a care home isn’t the end of a chapter… It’s the beginning of a new one ✨

We’re so lucky to have her as part of the Wimborne Manor family♥️

This week at Wimborne Manor's weekly craft club, we tried something a little different🧑‍🎨

We created some beautiful spring flower pictures using sandwich bags filled with water and paint🥰

It was such a relaxing and easy activity, and everyone loved watching the colours blend together to create lovely floral designs🌸

A simple activity that brought lots of smiles, creativity, and conversation to the afternoon!

What a wonderful way to celebrate VE Day with our monthly visit from the dementia-friendly choir🎤

With Lynne on the keyboard and songbooks in hand, we took a lovely trip down memory lane, singing along to all the classics together🎶

Afterwards, we enjoyed delicious afternoon tea with freshly baked scones, cream, and jam , the perfect ending to a special afternoon♥️

We’re already looking forward to our next choir session on the 12th of June!

Cheers to a blooming lovely Morning🌷

A few of our wonderful residents from the Gardening Club enjoyed a trip to Haskins, and what a treat it was!

We wandered through beautiful flowerbeds and explored the garden centre, admiring the incredible variety of plants and flowers🌸

Of course, we couldn’t leave empty-handed… a few seeds and plants made their way into our baskets, ready for our next Gardening Club session.

To top it all off, we stopped for some well-deserved drinks and refreshments before heading home😋

A truly lovely morning filled with sunshine, smiles, great company, and a little bit of shopping🛍️

✨ All aboard for our trip to Australia! ✨

This month our residents, along with Tammy, set off on a very special journey… all the way to Australia✈️

It became even more meaningful when we discovered that our lovely resident Joan had once lived there with her husband many years ago🌏

Then… we “took off” from the comfort of our armchairs! During the journey, we watched a short film packed with fascinating facts about Australia!

For afternoon tea, we enjoyed tasty Anzac biscuits and Lamington cake before putting our knowledge to the test with a fun Australia quiz🧠

What a fantastic day of food, fun, learning, and shared memories♥️
