On Friday we had the pleasure of welcoming back the wonderful Zoe and Hayley from The Newt in Somerset.
🍰 This time they came laden with goodies and treats. What better way to spend a Friday?!

We'd also like to thank them for a generous donation which helps to keep our vital work going. Building community relationships is important to us because together we are stronger.

We look forward to seeing you both again soon for a brew and a bit of cake 😀

☕️ No chance of Dry January in our Hub! ☕️

January was actually fairly quiet for us, with people recovering from the festive season and getting into new routines, yet we still managed to make 381 brews.

381 brews is roughly the equivalent of over 130L, a standard bathtub, and enough to fill 2.5 standard car fuel tanks!

Our total for the last six months is even more impressive with a whopping 2,304 brews made!
That equates to over 800 litres and is about the same as filling 4 hot tubs, 3 wheelie bins, 16 car fuel tanks and 26,880 espressos!

We mentioned previously that one of our volunteers who assists with Hub maintenance had all his tools stolen...
Please see this fundraiser to enable his return to carrying out vital works for our Hub and for our elderly service users.

🦴 Chiropractor Visit 🦴

Last week, our Weds night social evening was a little different. We had the honour of welcoming Alison, Brian (and Fred) from Wincanton Chiropractic for a talk on all things Chiropractic!

Alison and Brian shared what they do, how it can benefit people, and bravely answered an array of questions on different ailments, injuries, exercises, and everything in between!

It was fantastic to hear how visiting a Chiropractor can benefit in all kinds of ways. Be sure to book your appointment to see how they can support you.

Wiltshire Police are currently leading a national investigation into allegations of sexual assault and inappropriate treatment during military medical examinations. This includes medicals carried out for the Army, Royal Navy, and Royal Air Force, and applies even if you did not go on to join the armed forces after your examination.

Recruit and assessment medicals can be intrusive by nature. However, no one should ever be subjected to sexual assault, abuse, or treatment that made them feel unsafe, violated, or powerless.

If you experienced something that didn’t feel right, or if you hold information that may help this investigation, you do not need to be certain "it counts" or fits a specific definition. The investigation team will assess every report carefully and handle it appropriately.

The armed forces, with its rules, regulations, and Military Police, can often feel like a separate world with different standards, but it is not above the law. The rules of the land still apply. Employment law still applies. You still have the right to feel safe, respected, and treated with dignity. If it has ever felt like that isn't the case, talk to someone.

Be vigilant if you own a van!
One of our volunteers who helps with Hub maintenance had his van broken into and tools stolen last night.
Other incidents have been reported in Henstridge.
Keep an eye out and empty any works vehicles.
