🇬🇧 Bank Holiday Cream Tea…
This afternoon Sue and Tracey offered Tea, Scones and an array of goodies around the ward.

This week in May has always been a good one to celebrate - with VE Day on the 8th, and remembering King Charles’ Coronation on the 6th - so the bunting was out too! 🇬🇧

Today, as part of Intergenerational Week, we welcomed Wincanton Primary School’s Yr5/6 ‘School Council’.

The pupils joined some of our patients in art activities and book sharing.

Together we are creating a collaborative ‘pop art’ inspired piece for display in the hospital. The handprints highlighting the importance of connection between the older and younger generations.

Sharing books and stories, questioning and reminiscing, or joined in quiet togetherness colouring, both the children and patients enjoyed their time this afternoon.

A couple of our patients were emotional as the session ended. The kindness and quiet confidence shown by the pupils made a huge impression on us.

This connection between the local schools and our community hospital is something we will continue to nurture. The benefits were evident today.

On Thursday we will welcome Our Lady’s School choir to enjoy a musical session together.
