🌾 Harvest Festival 🌾

It has been a culmination of a few weeks activities - Harvest loaf making and the creation of an autumnal wreath - that contributed to our lovely Harvest display.

The additional of home-grown fruit and vegetables, and garden flora created a great backdrop to our Harvest service.

Led by our wonderful chaplaincy volunteer Sue, patients and staff enjoyed a short service celebrating the produce that the season brings.

Hymns, prayers and Betjeman’s poem - Diary of a Church Mouse - were read.

What a lovely afternoon!

Yesterday we enjoyed an afternoon of music, quizzes and ending in a delicious cream tea.

The question is always cream or jam first?!

🍎 It’s our annual Apple Tasting as part of British Food Fortnight!
🍏 Doesn’t it come around quickly?!
🍎We have enjoyed a variety of apples and rated their taste and appearance… the Russet and Cox are always popular.

It’s Dementia Awareness month…
Tammie from the Dementia & Delirium Education Team YDH/MPH joined us this morning with quizzes and games to improve staff knowledge… there were sweetie prizes too!

Our information board and literature will be up til the end of the month. Please feel free to take away any leaflets/booklets which were provided by the Alzheimer's Society.

We welcomed 11 year old Francesca to the hospital today. She had kindly offered to play her harp to the staff and patients.
What a delightful young lady, who so effortlessly transported us away with the beautiful sounds of her instrument. We were all in awe of her talent.
Thankyou Francesca - we hope to welcome you back again soon. 🪉
