I met Dr Ramani Durvasula
at a conference in WASHINGTON DC She is an inspiration and her work is absolutely amazing. I have learned so much from her about myself and about how to help my clients.
Everyone loves a Narcissist! Do not blame yourselves about falling for a narcissist, it is incredibly difficult not to!Instead ask yourselves what it is that kept you in it even though you noticed the red flags, even though your body told you that this isn’t right… it is most likely that you were a victim of narcissism most of your life.
Being the daughter of 2 narcissistic parents, narcissism is all I knew. It was my model, the personality I was attracted to because that was my norm, and the personality that was acceptable to my parents, at least to start off with. Career, status, charm, education, manners, success were all things to look out for in a potential partner. Once the approval was obtained the dress down starts to happen. He is this and he is that, this isn’t right and that’s not right… how incredibly confusing!! Here I am bringing home a partner that is meeting your expectations and I finally got a smidgen of your approval…finally…and now you are trashing them.
But that’s not all!!
On the other side you get the, your parents don’t like me,
they are this and they are that… all information you ofcourse volunteered to your narcissistic partner looking for empathy, compassion and understanding sharing your burden and pain. Before you know it you are completely stuck!! Everything is your fault, you are not good enough… again…
I understand the Narcissistic wound very well. If any of this resonates with you and you are looking for support please get in touch. I offer a confidential safe space where we can laugh together and cry together. A space where you can heal quietly without the noise and distractions, without the shoulds, musts and ought tos.
It is not your fault, it is time to be kind to yourself!
