Happy 14th birthday today to Beasley, one of our Australian Service Dogs. His breed were “designed” as allergy-free disability assistance dogs. Here he is “singing” happy birthday! I grew up with dogs and glad my two have had that joy too.

Sunday reading… and still a topic parents ask about every week

I was given this article by a patient a few years ago, and it still reflects many of the conversations I have with new parents today.

Cranial osteopathy for babies is a gentle, hands-on approach that some families choose as part of their baby’s overall care. Every baby is different, and appointments are always tailored to the individual needs of the child and family.

In clinic, I often see babies for support with:
• Feeding difficulties (including babies pre and post tongue-tie)
• Comfort and unsettled behaviour
• Favouring turning to one side
• Head shape concerns (e.g. flattening)
• General tension or asymmetry
During pregnancy, some women choose to have regular osteopathic treatment to help them stay comfortable as their body changes and to support overall balance and mobility.

I always work alongside your GP, midwife, health visitor or other healthcare professionals where appropriate.

If you’re unsure whether osteopathy is #

Shockingly, tooth decay is still the number one reason children aged 5–9 are admitted to hospital in the UK! The good news? It’s largely preventable.

As parents, you are your child’s greatest role model. What you do, they copy — so brushing teeth, making good food choices, and prioritising dental care becomes a family habit, not a battle.
A few simple wins:
• Brush twice daily (make it a shared routine, not a chore); soft bristles.
• Keep sugary snacks and drinks to a minimum
• Choose water over juice (a glass of juice has the same amount of sugar as a can of Coke!)
• Start dental visits early - even before all teeth are through. Taking your child to the dentist early helps them get used to the environment — the chair, the sounds, even the smell — so it becomes normal rather than something to fear.

Prevention really is everything. A few minutes a day now can save a lot of distress later — for both of you.

Healthy habits start small… but they last a lifetime.

Wi******er parkrun this morning. I love watching it all — the prams, the runners of all ages, fitness, shapes and sizes, the determination…

The dads running with toddlers in prams took me straight back.
And now my “baby” is the one out there running - her third Park Run.

What most people don’t realise is how much the body adapts over time — especially after pregnancy. Years later, it often shows up as:
• niggling hip or back pain
• a pelvic floor that’s not quite doing its job
• injuries when you try to get back into running

It’s incredibly common — and very treatable.

If your body doesn’t feel quite right, it’s worth getting it properly looked at.

Did you know that 75% of my patients are under 4 weeks old?
It’s never too early or too late for a gentle osteopathic treatment. Treatment can start during the pregnancy - helping pregnant mum can help baby get into an optimal position for birth. I’ve been helping mums and babies for over 25 years. Turning over in bed, or getting in or out of the car shouldn't hurt! As your baby grows your body changes quickly. Your pelvis, ribs and lower back are under more strain and hormones are softening your ligaments. Many pregnant women experience: Pelvic Girdle Pain (PGP or SPD), lower back pain, coccyx pain, rib pain, difficulty turning in bed, discomfort walking. Many mums find gentle osteopathic treatment and advice helps them feel more comfortable as the pregnancy progresses. Did you have pelvic or back pain during pregnancy?
