This week, we’re breaking down testosterone in men: what’s actually happening, what to look out for, and what can be done about it.
Here’s what we’ll cover:
Video 1: Why testosterone declines (and why it’s happening earlier)
Video 2: Symptoms, risks and health impact
Video 3: Testosterone Replacement Therapy treatment, safety and what to expect
Today Deborah talks about testosterone playing a key role in energy, mood, muscle mass, sexual function, and metabolic health.
From around age 30, levels decline by ~1% per year. But this isn’t just about ageing anymore.
We’re increasingly seeing:
▪️ Earlier decline
▪️ More noticeable symptoms
▪️ “Normal” lab results that aren’t optimal
And importantly, lifestyle plays a huge role.
Common contributors:
• Chronic stress
• Poor sleep (especially sleep apnoea)
• Increased body fat / low activity
• Insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes
• Alcohol and certain medications
Low testosterone is very common, often missed and not just an ageing issue.
In the next video, we’ll cover how this actually shows up and why it matters beyond symptoms.
