🇺🇸➡️🇬🇧 FDA Removes Major HRT Warnings. What Does It Means for Women in the UK?

Big news in women’s health: the FDA has removed the highest-level warning from oestrogen products after updated research showed the old fears weren’t supported by evidence.

Here’s why this matters for UK women
• Oestrogen-only HRT does not increase breast cancer risk and may even reduce it for some women.
• Body-identical combined HRT carries a far lower risk than previously believed.
• The alarming messaging from the early 2000s still shapes fears today but it’s outdated.

What we do know from the latest research:
✨ HRT remains one of the most effective and well-studied treatments for menopause symptoms.
✨ It supports long-term health, including bone, heart, metabolic and cognitive wellbeing.
✨ Most UK specialists now use body-identical options with strong safety profiles.

The takeaway?
Women deserve clear, accurate information, not fear. If you’re navigating perimenopause or menopause, you don’t have to do it alone.

Speak to the REMEDI HEALTH team for personalised menopause support and evidence-based guidance.

Smart Swaps for a Healthier You This Festive Season!

At REMEDI HEALTH, we know how tempting the countdown to Christmas can be: mince pies, mulled wine, party food and all the indulgent treats. But if you're trying to maintain a healthy weight, or even working to shift some extra pounds, making a few smart swaps can make a big difference!

Here are some sensible swaps that support your goals without sacrificing flavour:

Bread: Go wholegrain or seeded instead of white - more fibre, more fullness!

Drinks: Swap sugary drinks for sparkling water with fresh lemon or berries - just as refreshing but with far fewer calories.

Sauces: Swap creamy sauces for tomato-based ones - lighter but still delicious.

Cheese: Swap full-fat cheese for reduced-fat or just a smaller, more measured portion. You still get the taste, just less of the fat.

Chocolate: replace milk chocolate for a few squares of 70%+ dark chocolate.

Cooking methods: Grill, bake, or air-fry for all of the protein and less of the grease.

Dessert: Swap ice cream for a small portion of Greek yoghurt with cinnamon - creamy, satisfying and gut-friendly! Alternatively choose a refreshing fruity sorbet.

Always reach for protein before carbohydrates - it helps keep you fuller for longer, supports muscle maintenance, and is far better for metabolic health.

In our final reel on bone health we look at prevention and treatment.

Over the past few reels, we’ve explored:
• Why bone health is important
• Who is at risk of poor bone health
• How we check bone density with a DEXA scan
Today, Deborah focuses on how to prevent bone loss and treat it effectively.

Key ways to protect your bones:

• Oestrogen replacement - supports bone density, especially after the menopause

• Vitamin D (with K2) - helps your body absorb calcium and strengthen bones

• Resistance & impact training - maintains bone and muscle strength

• Lifestyle habits - balanced nutrition, reducing alcohol intake, stopping smoking

• Medication options - available when extra treatment is needed

The takeaway? Bone loss isn’t inevitable. There are effective ways to keep your bones strong at every stage of life.

Missed our earlier reels? Catch up to learn more - and if you’d like to check your bone density, ask us in the clinic.

Early action makes all the difference.
We’re here to help.

Who’s at risk of poor bone health?

Today, Deborah is diving into who’s most at risk of poor bone health in her latest reel and sharing how we can check and protect our bones as we age.

Bone health isn’t just something to think about later in life. Some people are at higher risk much earlier on.

You may be more at risk if you:
⚬ Have a family history of osteoporosis or fractures
⚬ Have low body weight or a history of restrictive dieting
⚬ Smoke or drink alcohol excessively
⚬ Take long-term steroids or certain autoimmune medications
⚬ Have conditions like coeliac disease or thyroid imbalance

Deborah also shares her DEXA scan results - the simplest and most accurate way to measure bone density.

Your DEXA scan gives a T-score, comparing your bone strength to that of a healthy young adult. This quick test gives you a snapshot of your current bone health and a map for your future. When you know your numbers, you can take action - bone loss can be slowed, stopped, and even improved.

Ask in the clinic about bone health - we can help you understand your risk, check your bones and protect your future strength.

10/11/2025

This week we’re focusing on bone health. Did you know your bones are alive? They’re constantly renewing and deserve attention at every age.

We reach peak bone strength in our 20s–30s, but after that, bone density naturally declines - especially for women after the menopause. As bones weaken, the risk of fractures (hip, spine, wrist) increases for both men and women.

After age 65, a hip fracture can carry up to a 30% one-year mortality risk, with falls being a leading cause of injury-related death in older adults. Fragile bones make those falls even more dangerous.

The good news? Bone loss isn’t inevitable.
You can take proactive steps now to stay strong, protect your mobility, and maintain confidence and independence as you age.

This week, Deborah will be sharing who’s most at risk, how we check bone health, and the best ways to build bone strength.

Ask us in the clinic about your bone health - and follow along to learn how to keep your bones strong for life!

Winter Immunity- Top Tips for Staying Healthy this Winter

Stay protected with vaccines
Flu and COVID-19 boosters reduce the risk of severe illness. Also consider RSV and pneumonia vaccines. Ask us about booking yours.

Boost your vitamin D
Less sunlight = lower vitamin D. A daily supplement from October to March is recommended to support your bones, muscles and immunity.

Keep moving
Aim for 150 mins of activity a week - brisk walks, home workouts, even housework all count!

Hygiene matters
Wash hands regularly, cover coughs/sneezes and wear a mask in crowds if unwell. Simple steps, big impact.

Prioritise sleep & stress care
7–9 hours of good sleep + stress management (mindfulness, gentle exercise, relaxation) = stronger immunity.

✨ Small habits = stronger health this winter.

Say goodbye to unwanted skin lesions with Cryotherapy at REMEDI HEALTH.

Warts, verrucas, moles, age spots, or skin tags getting in the way? Cryotherapy uses freezing technology to remove them quickly, safely & effectively.

How it works:
Cryopen uses a controlled flow of nitrous oxide gas at a temperature of -89C under high pressure to allow the clinician to work with millimetre precision. The tissue freezes, breaks down and naturally falls away, often with little to no discomfort.
Fast results
Minimally painful (for most)
Trusted, safe and effective

And for your peace of mind: if there’s any doubt about a lesion, we can run a mole scan to get expert specialist advice before treatment.

This is one of our most popular treatments in the winter months - so don’t wait! Go online or call 01962 798580 to book your appointment today.
