I’m pleased to share the publication of our work in the Aesthetic Surgery Journal: ‘Consensus Guidelines for the Management of Tissue Filler-induced Vision Loss in the United Kingdom’
As the global use of soft tissue fillers continues to rise, so too does the importance of recognising and preparing for associated complications. Although rare, vision loss following filler injection is one of the most catastrophic outcomes in aesthetic practice and represents a true medical emergency.
In 2024, we formed a UK multidisciplinary steering group bringing together specialists in aesthetic medicine, emergency ophthalmology, oculoplastic surgery and retinal care. Through collaborative discussion and expert consensus, we developed clear, practical recommendations to support clinicians faced with this devastating scenario.
This work reflects the power of multidisciplinary collaboration and a shared commitment to patient safety, transparency, and raising standards in aesthetic medicine. I’m grateful to have worked alongside such an experienced and dedicated group of colleagues on this important initiative.
