Skin Cancer Awareness Month Part 2

Early detection can save lives and it starts with knowing what to look for.

The ABCDE rule is a simple guide to spotting warning signs of skin cancer:

A – Asymmetry: One half doesn’t match the other
B – Border: Irregular, blurred, or jagged edges
C – Colour: Uneven shades or multiple colours
D – Diameter: Larger than 6mm (about a pencil eraser)
E – Evolving: Any change in size, shape, or colour

Most melanomas are first detected by patients themselves, and “evolving” is often the most important sign. Any new or changing lesion should be assessed by a healthcare professional promptly.

If you notice anything unusual, don’t ignore it, get it checked. Your skin is worth protecting.💙

Skin Cancer Awareness Month – Part 1

While early detection is vital, prevention remains the most effective strategy in reducing the incidence of skin cancer. Ultraviolet (UV) radiation from both natural sunlight and artificial sources such as sunbeds induces cumulative DNA damage within skin cells, contributing to the development of both melanoma and non-melanoma skin cancers.

Daily protection is therefore essential. This includes the regular use of a broad-spectrum SPF 30 or higher, which protects against both UVA (responsible for photoaging and deeper skin damage) and UVB (the primary cause of sunburn). Sunscreen should be applied generously and reapplied every two hours when exposed to daylight, even on overcast days when up to 80% of UV radiation can still pe*****te cloud cover.

The use of sunbeds should be strongly discouraged, as they are a well-established carcinogen. Protecting your skin is not seasonal, it is a lifelong clinical priority.💙

A wonderful evening at the launch of The French Skincare Bible✨ Thank you to for such a thoughtful and beautifully curated event.

This book is a considered distillation of Dr Marine Vincent’s work as a pharmacist and founder, bringing a more rigorous, evidence-based perspective to skincare while making French pharmacy principles accessible across skin health and modern beauty culture.

A meaningful contribution to how we understand and approach skin through the lens of both science and culture 🤍

Holiday skin, simplified… Whether it’s my daytime defence or a lighter midday glow, keeping skin clear, even, and radiant is all about smart, consistent steps.💫

Daytime: Protect against environmental ageing, soften lines, prevent pigmentation and never skip SPF.

Midday/ lighter option: An effortless combo for post-shower radiance or when I want a simpler routine.

Night: Repair, restore, and target pigmentation with barrier-loving creams.

And of course… don’t forget your sunhat!

Simple, effective, and holiday-ready, these are the products that keep my skin glowing wherever I am!⛱️☀️💙

Delighted to be featured in contributing to the discussion on substrate depletion, an increasingly important concept in the scientific evolution of aesthetic medicine. Thank you for the invitation to collaborate on this article and be part of this important conversation.💙💫

Emerging evidence suggests that many features of cutaneous ageing are driven not only by structural breakdown, but by a gradual depletion of the substrates required for effective cellular repair and regeneration. This paradigm invites a more comprehensive approach to treatment, one that extends beyond stimulation alone, and instead focuses on restoring the skin’s capacity to function optimally at a cellular level.

Technologies such as Dermalux Tri-Wave MD Celluma VITA, referenced in the article, exemplify this shift.

As aesthetic medicine continues to advance, integrating approaches that address both structural integrity and biochemical sufficiency will be essential in achieving outcomes that are not only effective, but physiologically aligned and enduring.

Stepping up to speak in front of 200+ peers last month at the new chapter event in London was such a humbling experience. As a woman in the aesthetic field, moments like this remind me how important it is to share knowledge, create space for dialogue, and lift each other up. Being part of conversations that shape the future of our industry is both inspiring and empowering.💫💙

And honestly… any excuse to share these lovely photos from the evening! 📸

March has been a full month, both professionally and personally. Speaking at events and sharing the stage with the aesthetics community reminded me why I love this field, the chance to exchange ideas, inspire others, and help shape the future of aesthetic medicine. Moments like these are a reminder that growth often comes from stepping outside your comfort zone and contributing to something bigger than yourself.💫

Alongside work, it’s been wonderful to celebrate life’s little joys… Mother’s Day and my daughters’ dance shows were beautiful reminders of why balance matters and what we’re ultimately working for.💕

Heading into spring, I’m reflecting on the importance of connection, both in my career and at home. It’s a busy season, but one that’s energising and full of opportunity! Ready for April🙌🏾✨

Two inspiring days at the Aesthetics Conference & Exhibition, finishing with the ACE Awards. It’s always such a pleasure to see peers and colleagues, and to spend time with so many people striving for excellence and integrity in this field. Events like this are a reminder of how collaborative and forward-thinking the aesthetics community can be.

…And of course, a lovely excuse to get glammed up and celebrate the achievements and innovation happening across our industry!💫💙

Celebrating the next chapter of last week in London. It was a privilege to speak in front of a room of over 200 peers, introducing the latest launches and sharing the vision behind what’s to come.

An exclusive evening designed not only to unveil innovation, but to help shape the future of aesthetic medicine alongside colleagues who are equally passionate about advancing our field.

Thank you for having me and for all the lovely feedback following the talk. It truly means a lot. Exciting times ahead for DermaFocus!💙

Today is a day to celebrate every kind of motherhood and the women who nurture, guide and care for others with love. I’m also thinking of those who find today difficult.💐

My own mother’s love and the lessons she gave me are part of me every day, even though she is no longer with us. I feel that even more now being a mum to my two beautiful daughters, who bring so much joy, chaos and love into my life.

Motherhood is the greatest privilege.🩷💫
