Skin Cancer Awareness Month Part 2
Early detection can save lives and it starts with knowing what to look for.
The ABCDE rule is a simple guide to spotting warning signs of skin cancer:
A – Asymmetry: One half doesn’t match the other
B – Border: Irregular, blurred, or jagged edges
C – Colour: Uneven shades or multiple colours
D – Diameter: Larger than 6mm (about a pencil eraser)
E – Evolving: Any change in size, shape, or colour
Most melanomas are first detected by patients themselves, and “evolving” is often the most important sign. Any new or changing lesion should be assessed by a healthcare professional promptly.
If you notice anything unusual, don’t ignore it, get it checked. Your skin is worth protecting.💙
