70 miles out with the Wheelers today — proper club run, strong pace, big climbs, and the kind of ride that reminds you why cycling clubs are special
3573 ft of climbing, plenty of graft, good wheels to sit on, and a cracking day rolling through the South Downs with the crew.
Club riding at its best — hard efforts, shared miles, and that mix of suffering and banter only a good group ride delivers.

Big week on the Training Camp.
Long days balancing coaching, treatment and getting the work in:
357 miles ridden, 16,401 ft climbed,
7,200m swum, 6 miles run.
Supporting 8 athletes through the week — on the road, in the water, and in the treatment room.
Early starts, late finishes, and moments like this above the clouds to take it all in.

BLOC Training Camp – Day 6
Biggest day of the week in the Tramuntana mountains .
Out with coached athletes Hattie and Dawn taking on Coll de Sóller, Serra de Son Torrella, Túnel de Monnàber and Coll de Femenia.
Huge day for Hattie — longest ride she’s ever done and her biggest climb to date. Controlled, consistent, and delivered when it mattered.
Dawn stacking another strong performance, backing up a big week with quality riding throughout.
88 miles / 6,500 ft. A solid day in the saddle

Day 4 on the east side of the island.
Open water skills in the pool this morning, followed by a long ride.
70 miles and 3,300 ft of climbing, averaging 17.5 mph and building strongly into the second half — hovering around 20 mph for the final 25 miles with controlled, consistent group riding throughout.
Sea swim afterwards to reinforce the morning’s skills and transfer the work into open water conditions.
Sydney’s birthday, birthday cake at dinner, then athlete treatments and a sauna to finish the day.

BLOC training camp – Day 4
A longer day in the mountains today, legs definitely starting to feel the work from the week.
Rolled out with a steady, flat warm-up through Campanet before the road started to tilt upwards.
Then into the 14km climb of Coll de Femenia — steady pressure all the way, managing the fatigue and just staying on top of the effort rather than forcing it.
A fast, flowing descent off the top and then a smooth coastal spin home from Port de Pollença with the sun still out and the pace settling nicely.
Today stacked up to 70 miles with 3,411 ft of climbing, so it was never going to be easy.
Another solid day in the bank — big load, good rhythm, good company, and proper Mallorca riding. coached

A day on camp in Mallorca
Early swim… drills and a few first-time tumble turns—bit of smooth, bit of chaos.
Breakfast, then straight out for an interval run—no easing into the day, straight to work.
Onto the bike after. 40 miles with a few laps of the velodrome thrown in… just to keep it honest.
Cafe stops along the way—plenty of café bombón keeping things ticking over.
Afternoon open water—drills, getting comfortable and building confidence in the sea.
Then into the evening—coach hat off, therapist hat on. Getting stuck into treatments, loosening things up ready to go again.
Long day. Good graft.
Repeat tomorrow.

Really proud of Ann.
She just gets on with it. No fuss, no shouting about it… just consistently turning up and doing the work.
Off the back of a big Hyrox doubles and her second fastest 10k, she heads out to Ibiza and takes on a tough 22km in that heat. Brutal conditions.
Didn’t quite get the time she wanted, but honestly that says more about the day than the effort. Everyone was hanging on.
She stuck at it, kept moving forward, and got it done.
That’s what I rate most… not perfect races, but the ability to keep showing up and pushing through when it’s hard.

Back on the roads of Mallorca 🇪🇸
It’s been a few years since I last rode here… but nothing changes.
The climbs still bite, the views still deliver, and the roads are made for proper training.
This time it’s not just about getting the work done —
it’s about helping others do the same.
Looking forward to teaming up with Gemma to deliver the BLOC Coaching & Race Team training camp.
A full week of purpose, progression, and proper coaching.
Swim. Bike. Run. Learn. Repeat.
Let’s gooooooo

Not perfect conditions. Not easy builds. Still… all fastest.
Different journeys.
Same process.
Not perfect conditions.
Not easy races.
Not smooth builds.
Yet this is what happened:
Marathon PB's— result of months of work
First marathon — delivered when it mattered
Breakthrough performance — built, not given
Because I’ve seen what goes on behind the scenes:
Early mornings
Balancing life, work, family
Tough sessions when motivation dips
Showing up when it would be easier not to
Brutal winds.
Tired legs.
Moments of doubt.
But we don’t chase perfect…
we build consistency
we adapt
we keep showing up
And that’s why this happens.
Everyone moves forward.
Dawn Burrell Simon Purr Kym Crosswell Annie Mary
Massive respect to you all.
This is what coaching is really about.

Something a bit different for Holly Shepherd and I today…
A group of uni friends on a girls’ weekend Marwell Resort asked if we could bring the clinic to them — 6 relaxing massages, back-to-back.
So we adapted.
Set up side by side.
Created a calm, recovery-focused space within the clinic.
And this is why we do it…
“You guys really made us feel special and we all feel amazing now.”
That right there
That’s what it’s all about.
Not just treatment.
Not just technique.
But how people feel when they walk away.
Bringing the clinic to you — recovery, relaxation, results.

If you want to improve:
Train smarter, not just more
This is what we focus on
Agree or disagree?

Both David and Juliet have undertaken a Level 5 BTEC qualification with the London School of Sport and Soft Tissue Therapy and are registered with the Institute of Sport and Remiedial Massage (ISRM) and the Complimentary and Natural Healthcare Council (CNHC)
The role of the sport & remedial massage therapist includes the assessment of the soft tissues of the body to help prevent and manage dysfunction, injury, pain or physical disorders. This is achieved by the physical, manual manipulation of the soft tissues with supportive advice on exercise and training. Our Sport & Remedial Massage Therapists practice within those fields for which they have been trained to a level of competence acceptable to the Institute of Sport & Remedial Massage. They operate as members of our health care team.
Diagnosis and Treatment of Injury and Medical Conditions
The diagnosis and treatment of injury and medical conditions is the responsibility of the medical practitioner and not the massage therapist. But in the private sector people can go to a massage therapist without seeking a medical opinion first. Our practitioners will alwasy refer clients to a medical practitioner when appropriate.
How Remedial Massage Can Help
For many thousands of years massage has been used effectively to deal with minor soft tissue conditions (affecting muscles, ligaments and tendons), and its uses and benefits are no less today than they have ever been. The majority of general aches and pains that are caused by lifestyle stresses are minor soft tissue conditions. Although they may recover naturally over time this is often not the case and they can develop into more serious and complex issues. Remedial massage has shown over the years to be a fast and effective way of dealing with these minor soft tissue conditions by assisting the body's own natural repair processes.
As a Complementary Therapy
Even with more serious injuries there is nearly always some secondary soft tissue condition also involved. This is usually because the muscular system is protecting or compensating for the more serious problem. Remedial massage can have a vital complementary role to play, in support of the medical practitioner, dealing with these secondary problems which otherwise may prevent a good recovery.
Sports Massage
This is a speciality within remedial massage that uses the same range of clinical skills. Many "so called" sports injuries have much to do with an athlete's posture and/or other factors outside of their sport, and the distinction between the two is often unclear. The real difference with sports massage is the focus on recovery from training and the early identification and treatment of potential soft tissue problems. With a thorough assessment of the condition of the athlete's soft tissues through massage, the therapist can monitor how he or she is responding to training. This can allow the athlete to "fine-tune" their training to avoid injury and enhance performance.
