Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the womb lining grows elsewhere in the body, most commonly in the pelvis and ovaries, but it can also affect other organs.

It’s more common than many realise, affecting 1 in 10 women and people assigned female at birth in the UK — over 1.5 million people.

Symptoms can include very painful or heavy periods, pain during or after s*x, and fertility challenges. However, some people may have no symptoms at all. Diagnosis can take an average of 8 years.

If something doesn’t feel right, it’s important to speak to your GP or a specialist.
