What better way to spend a rainy Friday afternoon than making new friends and having cuddles, which is exactly what we did a couple of days ago!
Huge thanks to Mill Cottage Farm Experience for bringing us Snap, Crackle, Pop, Mopsy and friends to meet some of us this afternoon.
It's well documented that holding and stroking a pet is great therapy for all as it helps focus you in the present moment and also reduces your heart rate to a steady, healthy rhythm.
We love making our resident's days enjoyable and finding ways to keep ensuring the care we provide is focusing on their wellbeing along with their practical needs.

We've got some great afternoons planned this month for everyone to enjoy in the warm whilst it's cold and snowy outside!
We welcome back some familiar faces, giving us an afternoon of fantastic music on violin and piano and an armchair journey around Japan.
We'll also be welcoming Jonathan for his first visit to The Dower House to entertain everyone with some lovely Spanish guitar.

It's a very festive week here at The Dower House! Our trees and decorations are all up, we've enjoyed some lovely afternoons with local school choirs visiting and yesterday had a packed drawing room for our annual carol service with members of the pastoral team from our local parish of St Swithuns & St Marys.
Still to come before Christmas we have Sarah Hobbs - Singer, saxophonist Hannah Spires Music, drinks with Matron & our General Manager Celia and more!

If you're coming to visit your friend or family here at The Dower House next week why not come and join us all on Wednesday 17th at 3pm for our annual carol service, led by Rev Lis Chase from our parish.
Join in with some traditional carols, listen to readings and enjoy mulled wine and mince pies afterwards.
Our residents really love it when those important to them join them for this occasion and we do too!

We love making a fuss of people on their birthdays so when one family member asked if they could arrange for some visitors we jumped at the chance to make it happen!
Thanks to Mill Cottage Farm Experience our birthday girl got to spend the morning having cuddles with a gorgeous rabbit, as well as spending time with some of her family (who enjoyed cuddling rabbits and guinea pigs).
Experiences like this are so important to everyone and this made the birthday special.

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came along to our Christmas Fayre on Friday afternoon and bought some lovely gifts and donated to the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance.
Altogether we raised an amazing £477 to add to monies raised throughout the year, taking our total to over £2,000!!
