Today we took advantage of the lovely weather and went 'OUT, out' 😁🌞. It seems Spring has finally sprung so we took a trip to Netley country park! The sun was shining, the sea was calm and it appeared everyone had the same idea as us.
It was lovely to see so many people interacting with us as we sat looking out at sea whilst having a cuppa and a biscuit! Such a perfect day!!! ❤️👌

Last night Brendoncare celebrated their awards night. So we were glammed up for an exciting night of fun and celebrations. 💃🏼
We were lucky to have so many colleagues nominated for awards from our home and our very own nurse John deservedly won 'Nurse of the year' award! ⭐
Well done to all colleagues that were nominated and a very special congratulations to John! ☺️

Today our residents and wellbeing team gave the Olympics a go by dressing up in their winter hats and gloves before going down the slalom!
We even had 1st, 2nd and 3rd place. Our lovely Ruth was our gold medalist!!!

🎉 A 100th Birthday to Remember! 🎂💐

This week we were delighted to celebrate the 100th birthday of our lovely resident, Carol Kennedy at Brendoncare Otterbourne Hill.

Carol has lived the most extraordinary life. Her grandfather, Sir John Simon, was a distinguished Liberal politician, which meant she had the rare privilege of watching both the George VI and Elizabeth II Coronation processions from the Foreign Office and a grandstand outside Westminster Abbey.

A lifelong swimmer, Carol saved a boy from drowning at just ten years old and received a Royal Humane Society medal for her bravery. She spent most of her career as a nurse and later retrained as a social worker. After moving to Brambridge in the 1970s, she swam 80 lengths of Marwell Pool at the age of 80 and even published her own memoir, A Pebble in the Pond, to raise funds for the MS Society UK.

Carol celebrated her big day surrounded by her loving family — including three grandchildren and three great‑grandchildren. 💖

All of us here think she’s a true inspiration, and we’re so proud to have her as part of our Brendoncare family. 🌟

We are extremely proud to share our latest CQC inspection results where we were received a ‘Good’ rating across the board and all services, as well as Outstanding in two sub-category areas 💚

Our report is something we are extremely proud of and recognises the hard work and outstanding care that our 150 colleagues achieve on a daily basis.

Today we were delighted to give a resident her very own baby, Emily, and the smile on her face said it all. Moments like these remind us how powerful simple, thoughtful care can be.

Dementia dolls can offer real comfort for some residents living with dementia. They can help reduce anxiety, provide a sense of purpose, and encourage nurturing feelings that feel familiar and reassuring. holding Emily brought calm, connection, and a beautiful sense of joy.

At our home, we are always looking for meaningful ways to support emotional wellbeing and create moments that truly matter.. 💕👶

We really enjoyed looking at the fish and the beautiful birds before having coffee and cake!!
