π A 100th Birthday to Remember! ππ
This week we were delighted to celebrate the 100th birthday of our lovely resident, Carol Kennedy at Brendoncare Otterbourne Hill.
Carol has lived the most extraordinary life. Her grandfather, Sir John Simon, was a distinguished Liberal politician, which meant she had the rare privilege of watching both the George VI and Elizabeth II Coronation processions from the Foreign Office and a grandstand outside Westminster Abbey.
A lifelong swimmer, Carol saved a boy from drowning at just ten years old and received a Royal Humane Society medal for her bravery. She spent most of her career as a nurse and later retrained as a social worker. After moving to Brambridge in the 1970s, she swam 80 lengths of Marwell Pool at the age of 80 and even published her own memoir, A Pebble in the Pond, to raise funds for the MS Society UK.
Carol celebrated her big day surrounded by her loving family β including three grandchildren and three greatβgrandchildren. π
All of us here think sheβs a true inspiration, and weβre so proud to have her as part of our Brendoncare family. π
