Lovely feed back from Lily: "Lou was brilliant. She really focused on the areas I was feeling the tension in - stretching and massaging and checking in to see how things were feeling for me. After treatment I felt a lot looser, lighter and more relaxed. Thank you!"

In response to a story on the radio this morning about NHS long NHS waiting lists, a blog about how to eat to improve pain from inflammatory conditions.

On BBC radio this morning (from 2:09.58) they discussed the effects of delays in NHS planned operations following Covid. They interviewed a woman with osteoarthritis who was going to have to wait four years for her hip replacement. The pain was disrupting her life and she had concerns about heart he...

Pain doesn't always mean injury. Why I'm asking sports massage clients about their stress levels and sleep.

You’ve come for a sports massage to help your runner’s knee pain. So why am I asking about your stress levels and how well you’re sleeping? Bear with me. As well as being a sports massage therapist, I’m a registered health coach specialising in weight management. Weight loss isn’t as strai...

Improving health doesn’t always have to mean huge upheaval. Instead, small changes can accumulate into huge benefits, boost your confidence and put you back in the driving seat of your own health. It’s not even about changing lots of small things at once. It could start with introducing one new ...

Hello everyone. Just wanted to explain that, along with medical and paramedical services, I will be retaining all covid precautions for the timebeing. Cases are rising and I have a duty of care to protect clients as well as my family as well as I can. Anedotally I'm hearing of cases of double-jabbed people still contracting covid (Sajid Javid wasn't the first) so we're not out of the woods yet.

That means we'll still do the pre-massage covid screening and I'll ask you still to wear a mask. I hope you won't consider it too much of an inconvenience in the great scheme of things.

Also, I'll be asking clients who aren't vaccinated to have a brief phone call before their appointment. Obviously I'd prefer that all clients are fully-vaccinated, but I recognise that there may be circumstances under which this isn't possible.

Here's the schedule for this weekend's free virtual conference from the PHC for whom I'm an ambassador. Loads of brilliant clinicians and healthcare professionals talking about ways to improve health and prevent illhealth for individuals and populations through diet and lifestyle. 9.30am on Sunday looks interesting... 😏

Hello everyone. It looks as though sports massage may be possible from 12th April.

If you'd like to book an appointment (mornings only), email me on lou@louwalker.com. If we need to cancel or postpone nearer the time, we can.

I'm having my first vaccination on 18th March so there's an extra layer of protection, perhaps. We'll stick to the full PPE and precautions which were in place last year including masks for both you and me.
🤞🤞🤞

It’s very exciting to have another research article published in a peer-reviewed journal, this time the BMJ Nutrition, Prevention & Health (BMJ is the new name for British Medical Journal). You can read the full article here. The article describes the structure and outcomes of a low carb real food...
