April is autism acceptance month 💜

Being an autism ally is not just about awareness. It’s about learning, listening, and taking action that supports autistic people in everyday life.

This important campaign is all about building understanding, celebrating neurodiversity, and encouraging us all to take action to create a more inclusive world for autistic people. This year’s message – “Know More. Do More. Be an Ally.” – reminds us that even small changes in our everyday lives can make a big difference.
There are lots of ways to get involved throughout the month, including:

💜 Taking part in “A Day of Purple”
💜 Exploring sensory experiences to better understand autism
💜 Supporting fundraising activities and community events
💜 Learning how to be a more autism-inclusive ally

Last week our members took part in their assessments with Wi******er Boxing Club - Prodigy Sport Academy CIC🥊

Our boxing coaches Alex and Glyn had this to say:

'A fabulous effort by all the folks. Really great to see them moving about so well and using the techniques'

'They all took it so seriously and worked hard. They have come so far'

Well done to all that took part, you should all feel very proud of the hard work you have been putting in 🏆

Samba joined our Go Connect session for a spot of lunch in The Arc, Wi******er today.

She requested a lettuce leaf sandwich minus the bread, hope that's nutritious enough Marwell Wildlife?

As part of our Go Us session about where to go for support and help out in the community, a small group braved the cold for a trail around Wi******er ending in a hot drink 🫖☕️

We met with lots of friendly people at Wi******er Police station, the job centre, Wi******er City Council, Wi******er District Citizens Advice and Wi******er tourist information.

It's always good to know where you can get help and advice 👍

Today is World Down Syndrome Day🎉 An annual celebration to recognise and support people with Down syndrome as valued members of families, workplaces, schools, and communities.

We have made a kindness chain with ways to make people feel less lonely and been decorating (and wearing!) odd socks 🧦

Many adults with learning disabilities experience loneliness. Opportunities to meet others, develop independence and be active members of the community are not always easy to access. Wi******er Go LD exists to change that. And a gift in your Will, no matter the size, can help secure that future.
