They say first impressions last, and that could not be truer of the inspiring, courteous, and deeply kind gentleman that was Ian Norris. From the moment we met, Ian’s warmth was unmistakable. He carried himself with such politeness, care, and consideration for those around him. His intelligence shone through in every conversation, and it was clear he had lived a rich and fulfilling life alongside his beloved wife.
Ian had a lifelong passion for sport, especially golf and rugby, and he cherished being part of the clubs and communities that shaped so many of his years. His career took him around the world, and his achievements were a testament to his dedication and drive.
Today, we honour a man who will be profoundly missed. His wisdom, humour, and gentle guidance remain with us, echoing in the memories he leaves behind.
One moment I will always treasure is the day he persuaded his carer to take him out for ice cream during a companionship visit. It was a warm summer’s day, and Ian’s love for a sweet treat was irresistible. With a nearby ice cream parlour in mind, he and his carer made a plan, ensuring he could be safely transferred into his wheelchair. The joy he felt from that simple outing was priceless—pure, unfiltered happiness.
It is moments like these that remind us to pause, reflect, and appreciate the small acts of kindness that bring light into our lives. A simple gesture can mean so much.
Thank you, Ian, for trusting us and allowing us the privilege of getting to know you and your family. Your presence touched us all.
Rest in peace 💜
