Firstly, a big thank you to all our wonderful clients—both long-standing and new—for keeping us so busy, especially on our northern trips!

These visits fill up incredibly fast, and while we always do our best to accommodate everyone, it’s not always possible. This is particularly frustrating when we receive last-minute cancellations.

We completely understand that life (and horses!) can be unpredictable. However, we kindly ask for at least 48 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment. This allows us time to offer the slot to someone on the waiting list and adjust our travel routes accordingly.

📌 Cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice may be charged for the missed appointment (at Kara’s discretion).

A quick note on payments:

To help us run smoothly and efficiently, please ensure all treatments are paid for on the day or in advance. We accept:
• 💳 Bank transfer
• 💷 Cash on the day

💰 Treatment Fees:
• £50 per horse
• £45 per horse when treating two or more horses at the same yard.

We always try to group visits where possible, therefore a single horse may share a visit with an another nearby yard/horse to give you a reduced fee. If you’re unsure about your appointment fee, feel free to message us in advance.

Our diary is now very full, and we’re almost fully booked until July! If you’d like to secure an appointment, please get in touch as soon as possible.

Thank you! 🐴😊

WHY DO DOGS LIVE SHORTER LIVES THAN HUMANS?

Here’s a surprising answer from a 6-year-old child 💪✍

A friend of mine, a veterinarian, once shared a touching story.

I was called to examine a ten-year-old German Shepherd named Astro. The dog’s owners and their young son were very attached to him and were hoping for a miracle.

I examined Astro and found that he was dying of cancer. I told the family that nothing more could be done and offered to perform the euthanasia at their home.

They agreed—it was the most humane choice, as the dog would otherwise suffer greatly.

As we prepared, the parents told me their six-year-old son wanted to be present during the procedure.

The next day, I felt the familiar lump in my throat as the family gathered around Astro. The little boy was calm as he gently petted the dog one last time before Astro peacefully passed away. 🖤

Afterward, we all sat together in silence, reflecting on why dogs have much shorter lives than humans.

The boy, who had been quietly listening, suddenly spoke:

"I know why."

We all turned to him in surprise. What he said next stunned me—I've never heard a more comforting explanation. 🐕

He said:

“People are born to learn how to live a good life—like loving and being kind, right? Well, dogs already know how to do that, so they don’t need to stay as long as we do.”

If a dog were your teacher, you might learn things like:

🍀 Run to greet your loved ones when they come home.
🍀 Never miss a chance to go for a walk.
🍀 Take naps.
🍀 Stretch before rising.
🍀 Run, play, and have fun daily.
🍀 When it’s enough to growl, don’t bite.
🍀 On warm days, lie on your back in the grass.
🍀 Drink lots of water and relax in the shade.
🍀 When you're happy, dance and wag your whole body.
🍀 Enjoy the simple joy of a long walk.
🍀 Be loyal.
🍀 Never pretend to be someone you’re not.
🍀 If what you want is buried, dig until you find it.
🍀 When someone’s having a bad day, be quiet, sit close, and just be there.

That’s the secret to happiness—straight from a dog’s heart.

We need more posts like this from other forces too….Thames Valley Police Cumbria Police and every force in between please take note. The roads are so dangerous now but we are left with very little choice to have to ride on them. So many drivers have no idea how to pass a horse, on every hack I can safety say at least 50% of drivers pass too close or too fast (usually both!) It only take one spook or error of judgment for things to go horribly wrong.

Horses are large, powerful animals and, if they have cause for alarm, their instinct is to move away quickly so, as road users, understanding what to do when you meet a horse on the road is crucial.

If you encounter a horse when you're behind the wheel, slow down, keep your distance and prepare to stop. Avoid any actions that may startle the horse, do not rev you engine or sound your horn. Watch out for signals from the rider and, when it's safe to do so, pass the rider slowly (no faster than 15mph) and give the horse a wide berth – at least a car’s width which is about two meters. Be prepared for the unpredictable and play your part in keeping all road users safe.
