We are delighted to celebrate Mark, who lives at Warwick House, for being awarded the prestigious Cup of Courage from Mencap in recognition of his remarkable resilience, determination and positive spirit.🩵

Despite facing significant personal challenges over the past year, Mark has shown exceptional strength and an unwavering commitment to achieving his goals. His courage and perseverance have inspired the whole Warwick House community and beyond.

The award was presented by Dame Carolyn Fairbairn, Chair of Mencap, at a special ceremony attended by residents and staff, with the Warwick House team proudly supporting Mark on his well-deserved achievement.

Congratulations to Mark on this outstanding recognition – a true example of courage in action.✨

A wonderful day out for New Ridley! 🌟

The team enjoyed a visit to the Heatherslaw Light Railway, travelling together through the stunning Northumberland countryside. The train meanders along the River Till, where everyone loved spotting swans, herons, ducks – and maybe even an otter or two! 🦢🦆✨

And of course, Bruce’s big smile said it all. 💙

🌟 Salutem at the Superhero Tri 2025 🌟

This weekend, Salutem Care and Education proudly took part in the Superhero Tri powered by Marvel – the UK’s one & only disability sports series for the Everyday Superhero! Alongside partners including Marvel, Disney, Pfizer, Invacare, Swim England, Everyone Active, and DHL, we came together to champion disability inclusion and celebrate everyday achievement.

Salutem teams travelled from Cornwall and Cardiff to join the day, and together we took on the races with 100% energy – swimming, cycling, and pushing/running around Dorney Lake with determination and team spirit. It was truly inspiring to see so many of the individuals we support get involved and enjoy the incredible atmosphere.

Our Wheelchair Basketball activation kept the energy high throughout the day, while at the finish line our CEO John Godden OBE, dressed as Thor, and our Marketing & Communications Manager Stuart Baillie, dressed as Captain America, brought encouragement and superhero spirit to every participant crossing the line. Supported by our fantastic Salutem Sidekicks, the day was filled with teamwork, joy, and unforgettable moments.

We are incredibly proud of everyone who represented Salutem with such passion – and we’re already counting down to the Winter Superhero Tri later this year. ❄️🦸‍♂️

Fresh from Our Own Backyards 🍅🥕

There’s nothing quite like the taste of vegetables you’ve grown yourself – and this summer, our green-fingered gardeners have been busy planting, nurturing, and harvesting delicious homegrown tomatoes and carrots! 🌱

From the first sprout of a seed to the moment you pick it, gardening is a rewarding activity that brings joy, fresh air, and a real sense of achievement.

We also enjoyed our Salutem in Bloom competition, where our services shared their lovely gardening efforts – from bright flowers to tasty veg patches. It was a great way to celebrate the season and get everyone outdoors. 🌸🌿

Shaping Our Teams Together 🩵

At Salutem, co-production is more than a principle — it’s a practice that empowers the people we support to have a genuine voice in decisions that affect their lives.

Most recently, individuals at Warwick House led an inclusive and person-centred recruitment process to help select new staff. Mark, a person we support, confidently led the interviews, asking candidates thoughtful and meaningful questions created by those living at the service. These included everyday considerations such as, “Are you good at cooking and baking?”, “Can you push wheelchairs?”, and importantly, “Can you make us laugh?”

This approach not only placed the voices of the people we support at the centre of the recruitment process but also gave valuable insight into how candidates interacted with those they may one day support.

This initiative reflects our ongoing commitment to co-production, inclusion, and delivering care that is shaped by the people who receive it.
