It’s not a surprise to us..... but it’s still lovely to say out loud: has just been named the best place in England to grow old.

When you think about the castle, the river, the parks and the fact you can be in London in no time, it does make sense, doesn’t it?

At Castle View, we see the “why” every day – neighbours becoming friends, plenty going on and a feeling that later life is something to enjoy, not endure.

So yes, the headlines have caught up… Windsor really is a brilliant place to grow older – and an even better place to call home.

Thanks to The Times and The Sunday Times for recognising Windsor.....read more....

Last week, staff and homeowners joined together, in true Castle View style, to celebrate the retirement of our weekend chef, Bev.

We raised a glass (or several!) while enjoying a delicious meal of lasagne and raspberry meringue roulade - not catered by our guest of honour - along with heartfelt speeches and presentations from our General Manager, Kevin, our Catering Manager, Sharon, and Bev herself.

Bev has been part of Castle View for four years as our weekend chef, also lending her talents to many of our events, and is especially renowned for her famous Sunday Roast Lunches.

She’ll be keeping busy with exciting plans to travel in her new camper van, but we hope she’ll return from time to time to lend a hand with catering cover.

Don’t roam too far on your travels, Bev!

This afternoon we raised a glass to Rosemary at her retirement lunch with staff and homeowners.

As a key member of our finance team, and as someone born and bred in Windsor, she has been part of Castle View’s journey from day one and has watched it develop into the wonderful lifestyle-led community it is today.

Rosemary is looking forward to becoming a first-time gran and to travelling, and we wish her every happiness for this next chapter. Thank you, Rosemary, from all of us at Castle View.

Swipe to see a few moments from today’s lunch.

Castle View marked Burns Night with a relaxed tribute to Scotland’s national poet, Robert Burns.

Homeowners and guests came together on what would have been his 267th birthday to share good food, music and company. There were tartan sashes, a couple of kilts, and Scottish tunes playing in the background.

The evening began with the traditional piping in of the haggis to ‘Scotland the Brave’, with Scottish homeowners, Richard and Ann, gaving the ‘Address to a Haggis’ and the ‘Selkirk Grace’, much to everyone’s enjoyment.

Dinner was a three-course Scottish menu: haggis, neeps and tatties, Ecclefechan tart and cream, and Isle of Mull Cheddar with oatcakes, served with wine and a few wee drams of whisky.

Several homeowners kindly volunteered to read the traditional toasts and poems, including The Loyal Toast, the Toast to the Lassies and the Toast to the Immortal Memory of Robert Burns, as well as favourites such as ‘To a Mouse’, ‘Rigs O’ Barley’, ‘I’m O’er Young to Marry Yet’ and ‘A Red, Red Rose’.

We finished the evening with a simple toast to the Castle View community, followed by everyone joining in to sing ‘Loch Lomond’, the ‘Skye Boat Song’ and ‘Auld Lang Syne’ with arms linked.

It was a warm, sociable night, and we’re very grateful to everyone who joined in and helped make it special.

Burns Night at Castle View – what a night!

What better way to beat the January blues than celebrating Scotland’s national poet, Robert Burns? Our homeowners and guests did exactly that at our ever-popular Burns Night, held on what would have been his 267th birthday.

From tartan sashes and the odd kilt to beautifully dressed tables and a Scottish playlist, the scene was set. We piped in the haggis in traditional style to ‘Scotland the Brave’, before our Scottish homeowners Richard and Ann gave a wonderful ‘Address to a Haggis’ and the ‘Selkirk Grace’.

Everyone then tucked into a hearty three-course Scottish feast – haggis, neeps and tatties, Ecclefechan tart and cream, and Isle of Mull Cheddar with oatcakes – washed down with wine and a few wee drams.

Our homeowners also took to the floor with toasts and poetry readings, including The Loyal Toast, Toast to the Lassies and the Toast to the Immortal Memory of Robert Burns, plus favourites such as ‘To a Mouse’ and ‘A Red, Red Rose’.

We ended the evening with a toast to the Castle View family and a rousing singalong to ‘Loch Lomond’, the ‘Skye Boat Song’ and ‘Auld Lang Syne’ with arms linked.

A truly special evening – thank you to everyone who joined us and made it a night to remember. Slàinte mhath, and haste ye back next year!

After the passing of her husband, Lin found daily life overwhelming in the family home of 66 years....

Though surrounded by generations of memories, she faced difficult nights, anxiety about safety, and the burden of a house that suddenly felt too big and too empty. “The house was full of memories, but it was time to start a new chapter”, she recalls.

When Lin moved into her independent living apartment in late 2025, she wasn’t simply switching addresses, she was, in her own words, “opening the door to a new chapter of comfort, companionship, and peace of mind”.....

In a candid and honest interview, Lin shares what that period was like for her and her family....

Since moving, Lin describes her life as “transformed.” She now relishes the security of the Castle View building, even sleeping soundly in the dark for the first time since her loss
