They have been designed and created by myself, Sarah Barron. When my daughter started having nocturnal tonic clonic seizures was when I stopped sleeping myself. I would sit on her bedroom floor for hours, and check every movement. This was not healthy for either of us, as she wanted her space and I was exhausted. I then switched to using baby listening monitors, but would find myself running upstairs with every snuffle I heard. Next I tried video monitors, and would find myself constantly watching this all evening. The doctors and paediatricians wanted video footage, and this was not easy to get. I decided to create something which meant I heard the movement of her seizures, but also meant that I could relax when there was no noise. One evening I pulled apart all of her brothers toys with bells inside, and stitched them onto her sheets. 3 years, and several prototypes later, we have the Jingly Blanket! The blankets are filled with 100 jingle bells. If your child moves, you will hear a small jingle. It is not really loud - after all who wants their child waking every time they simply roll over! You very quickly learn what is normal sleep movement jingly noises, and what is a prolonged noise. Isnt it strange as parents, how we very quickly learn to attune our hearing to certain noises?! Each blanket is handmade by myself. The fabric used is a lightweight poly-cotton mix. This means that the blankets can be used year round; alone when it is warm and on top of a duvet in colder months. The blankets are double-stitched on the edges to ensure that the bells are safely inside. My prototypes that I used with my own children taught me how durable and tough these needed to be - and when they wasn't, I knew about it! The blanket designs that you see on this page are the main fabrics that I use, however, each blanket is made to order. If you have a design / colour / style that you would like, just let me know and I will do my best to find it for you! If you want to mix and match the styles that you see - again, this is no problem, your blanket is made for you especially!
