During exam revision, teenagers are asking a lot of their brains. Long study hours, information overload and pressure to perform can leave their minds feeling foggy and fatigued.

5 mental health tips you can use at home to help calm them when they're feeling overwhelmed;-

1️⃣ Slow Breathing Reset
Ask them to breathe in for 4… out for 6… slowly and deeply.
This activates the body’s relaxation response, helping heart rate slow and thoughts feel less racing.

2️⃣ Hand Massage
Using their thumb, they can press and circle into the palm of the opposite hand — especially the fleshy area under the thumb.
This area often holds tension, and massaging it can encourage relaxation and grounding. ITs considered the 'solar plexus' in Reflexology.

3️⃣ Self-Reflexology (Foot Hold)
Sitting comfortably, they can gently hold or press the centre of their foot (the solar plexus reflex area).
Slow, steady pressure here encourages deep calm breathing and emotional release (like a reset button for the nervous system.)

4️⃣ Shoulder Squeeze Release
Lifting shoulders up to the ears, holding for 5 seconds, then releasing — repeated 3–5 times.
This helps discharge physical stress held in the upper body.

5️⃣ Quiet Time Out
Even 10 minutes lying down in a calm space. No phone, no noise, this allows the brain to switch from “fight or flight” into “rest and restore” to truely be quiet and help retain the info.
