No Experience? No Problem 💜

Many disabled students worry they don’t have enough work experience to apply for jobs or internships. The truth is, you’re not alone and employers are interested in much more than just work experience. They want to see:

✨ Your potential
✨ Your unique skills
✨ How you overcome challenges

Experience comes in many forms beyond work: university projects, volunteering, disability-related problem-solving, clubs, societies, personal achievements, and committee roles.

You can also gain experience by:
✔️ Searching for internships
✔️ Taking online courses
✔️ Volunteering locally
✔️ Exploring opportunities on campus (peer mentoring, campus jobs, open days)

Remember: work experience isn’t everything. You already have so many strengths so recognise them, own them, and put them to use.

Last Friday we hosted our Future You in-person careers event, in collaboration with .

57 talented university students with disabilities joined us to gain valuable insights and connect with potential employers. Throughout the day, they participated in interactive sessions that empowered them to confidently position their disability, understand how to disclose it, and request the support they need.

There were also plenty of networking opportunities for these incredible students who engaged directly with representatives from participating firms Capgemini, JPMorganChase and KPMG
