Today is my 47th birthday πŸ₯³! Another year around the sun.

47 feels like a real turning point. Certainly a kind of a well needed metamorphosis πŸ¦‹.

There's a feeling of inner knowing, self belief and growing self worth. A more steady-state of calm I've been working on my whole life. A gentle excitement for all that is yet to be as the year unfolds.

Every day is a new opportunity to allow our wings to unfold and become everything we are meant to be in this life πŸ’œ.

I'd love for you to join me and our lovely supportive Elementary Pilates & Wellbeing community this year!

Sessions are updated regularly on the booking page of website and I will be offering more, accessible sessions (group, private, Mat, Reformer and Apparatus in person and online) over the next couple of months (watch this space), but to kick us off I have a couple of foundational mixed level Matwork small group classes (6 week term blocks with drop in's space allowing) at Ryton Community Centre (Monday 6.30pm from 5/1) and St. Johns Hall Greenside (Saturday 9.15am from 10/1) with only 2 spaces remaining for each block!

A Very Happy New Year to you All!

I'm excited to welcome you/see you back in live mat classes, online classes, Elementary Escape Events and more in the coming year together with hopefully just being a source of support and guidance and maybe even a little inspiration here and there ✨.

Personally, I don't believe it's time for going all in and burning out. A reset, yes this time of year often offers that opportunity, however habits that last are built gently, over time with respect to individual wants and needs. We are not the same and I think it's important to recognise when motivation is driven externally by the noise of social media and environments (and indeed 'popular' movement and culture) that doesn't serve us rather than listening into our internal voices.

Even more than usual, I ask for courage and self - trust, to move in a way that serves me and my whole health beyond the outwardly aesthetic. I am beyond wasting my time/life chasing the superficial. And I know that if you're reading this and are part of our wee community you may well feel the same.

I believe that only when we step back and look at what really aligns with us as individuals we build real consistent supportive and healthy behaviours. And surely the world needs more humans who are beyond the cookie cutter 'follower' mentality that some have seemed to devolve to even more of late (WTAF?!). Find out what YOU πŸ’œ.

My gentle accountability challenge for you for January...

1. Move in a way that serves YOU daily for a minimum of 20 minutes (dare I say that strength based heavy lifting isn't for everyone and a house is only as strong as the foundations it's built on! Progressive overload is a goal).

2. Choose mostly nutritionally supportive foods, with a focus on protein at every meal alongside a variety of brightly coloured fruit and veg to support your whole system.

3. Drink water daily. Cut down on the Alcohol and caffeine (note, it's my birthday on 9th Jan and dry January is a not appropriate to my wants and needs 🀣)
4. Journal daily to find patterns in what's working for you.

A group of beautiful humans chose to join me for my 'Betwixtmas' class today. Not many pics but I was choosing to be a bit more present too 😊.

This was my signature 'Elemental Flow' - a combination of Gentle Dynamic Mobility, Pilates Strength, Developmental Stretch and Guided Release.

We were present and intentional, allowing the self care we absolutely deserved in our safe space.

We were still for a while. We focused on moving into the NY with true self-worth and on letting go of the things that no longer serve us, listening instead to what feels aligned.

We thought about intrinsic, inside-out value and understanding our individual needs and wants over the shoulds and musts placed upon us through the noise of the outside world.

There are some things within our control.

We also raised Β£85 for my chosen charity MIND πŸ‘Œ.

Thank you to those who were with me. You are just brilliant πŸ’œ. Those that missed it, see you next time (and I'll do a little recording for you).

Talk about overthinking something....

Every year I film a 12 Movements of Pilates-Mas' session for my clients and followers. Just as a little gift to help stay consistent over the festive craziness.

This year, honestly I've struggled with the motivation. It's been a tough few months and to even film what should've been a very simple session seemed to be overly challenging.

What I've strongly realised, however is that a little bit of effort can go a long way and that the gratitude and loyalty I receive is well worth the effort. So it's done. Not perfect by any means, but done.

A day to let go and welcome in the new.

Winter solstice rituals focus onΒ welcoming the return of light, rebirth, and hope through practices like lighting candles/fires, feasting, making natural altars, setting intentions, and connecting with nature.

It's inspired by ancient pagan (Yule) and cultural traditions (Dongzhi) to mark the longest night and the year's turn.

For me, it's a day of reflection, sitting quietly, getting honest with myself and letting go of the darkness (anything no longer serving me - people, things, limiting beliefs). It can be helpful to burn a yule log or light a bonfire as a symbolic but powerful gesture πŸ”₯.

I love sitting in candlelight to honor the sun's return. Β Trataka is the ancient yogic practice of focusing on a candle flame to quiet the mind and enhance intuitionπŸ•―οΈ.

Whatever you do today, I wish you peace in moving forward towards the light.

These beautiful humans. Consistent to the end....

And honestly, in my 20 plus years in the wellness industry, what I've witnessed is that it's those (participants and professionals) who are about the gentle, flowing, simple consistency with movement and life, not those who 'go hard or go home' who are the most successful and content long term.

We don't need to make huge changes or do the fancy big, surface level stuff to get results aligned with who we are and what we want and need as individuals.

Less about the show. More about the depth of awareness.

Elementary Escapes Festive Pop Up in collaboration with the fabulous Jess and Alex - THANK YOU πŸ™

My photographic and media skills could do with improving - I am very aware of that πŸ˜…. But my own intention was to stay present too.

During the afternoon we found the calm before the chaos. The 'presence' before the presents.

We created space for us, to connect to mind and body physically with Pilates, creative wreath making and Yoga Nidra for deep relaxation πŸ’€.

Real humans with different stories connecting and giving themselves the gift of time and space.

Leaving the physical space by setting 'Sankalpa' - the heartfelt intention or resolve planting the seed of transformation πŸ’œ.

My own....

I believe I am worthy.
I believe I am capable.
I believe I can let go of that which no longer serves me.

I look forward to the coming year, collaborating with incredibly talented Teachers in order to help our community grow, try something new or build upon skills already learnt and find the connection we need from inside out, even if we don't realise it yet.

We are proud to present a very special feel-good festive in-person event at Ryton Community Centre on Sunday 30th Nov 25 3-7pm.

Take part in an afternoon/early evening:
-Pilates Fun Festive Flow for inside out strength and mobility (mixed level suitable) with Leanne (Elementary Pilates & Wellbeing)
-Get creative with some Wreath making with the talented Jess (Barmoor Blooms) using gorgeous natural materials (your Wreaths are yours to take home of course!).
-End the day by softening gently into your body and creating peace πŸ•ŠοΈ for your mind with gentle stretching, relaxation and Yoga Nidra (Yogic sleep πŸ’€) led by the gorgeous energy of Alex (Meraki Yoga).

Set your intention to create the 'calm before the storm' and move gently into what can be a more magical December ✨.

I spy Pilates TEACHERS in the making....

Never underestimate how challenging it is to teach this method well.

These guys are really still at the start of their journey but I truly saw some super developments today and I am proud of them.

Teaching what, why, how, and learning to not simply throw teaching points out but taking stock to observe...

Learning to teach Pilates Matwork is essential for foundations prior to learning to teach using all apparatus (or even just Reformer) with the required awareness to truly support clients.

Stage 1 face to face practical weekends almost done in Aberdeen.
