Diabetic Ketoacidosis (DKA) happens when your body doesn’t have enough insulin, so it starts breaking down fat for fuel. This creates ketones, which can build up in the blood and become dangerous if levels get too high.

When having treats you wouldn’t usually eat, make sure to test your blood glucose regularly. Tracking helps you understand how different foods affect your levels—so you can enjoy your Halloween and stay in control.

If your Halloween plans involve running around or trick-or-treating, it’s best to be prepared. Test, and make sure you've got something to treat a hypo. You'll likely already have a hypo remedy on hand with sweets all around – but remember some sweets and chocolate aren’t ideal for hypos as they don’t act very quickly.🍬
