Alan Barrow is the Managing Director of The Calf Company Ltd and has been working in agriculture for 42 years.
After doing a 4-year diploma in agriculture at Reaseheath College Alan worked on the family dairy farm with the Barpool Herd of pedigree Holsteins.
In 2004 the herd was sold and Alan started to rear calves, rearing up to 1000 calves per year. This led into establishing the Calf Company using his practical knowledge of calf rearing to supply milk powders, housing and equipment to the dairy and beef industry.
Alan also spent many years travelling to European Farms selecting livestock for imports into the UK. Through this he saw first-hand the advances in calf housing design, environmental management, health and efficiency benefits on progressive European farms. These ideas have been brought back to the UK producers with The Calf Company Ltd.
Outside of work Alan enjoys golf, swimming and working in the garden, whilst also spending time with his wife, two children and grandchild.
