I love when my clients ask questions about how the Theraplate works, especially the difficult questions as it motivates me to learn more myself!
One of the more recent questions I've been asked is "how does the theraplate increase circulation without increasing heart rate", the simple answer is because it uses fast twitch muscle fibres to pump the blood around the body, and the heart doesn't have fast twitch muscle fibres so it remains unaffected. However, my client wanted a little more in depth information, and I held my hands up and said I didn't know the science of how fast twitch muscle fibres work. So I have found out, and now I can explain it to you lovely lot.
So, Theraplate uses Vortex Wave Circulation on the body, activating fast twitch muscle fibres, as mentioned. These fibres increase circulation through a process called "exercise hyperemia" where the contractions of the muscles themselves trigger vasodilation (widening of blood vessels) in the immediate area, allowing more blood flow without requiring an increase in heart rate. This happens due to the release of chemicals which signal the blood vessels to relax and expand, increasing blood flow.
Theraplate activates fast twitch muscle fibres all over the body, therefore increasing circulation everywhere rather than being localised like some other modalities. With regular use, Theraplate can increase the density of the tiny blood vessels within fast twitch muscle fibres further enhancing blood flow during contractions.
As always, circulation is key to a healthy, well functioning body. The primary way we increase circulation is through exercise, but due to certain conditions and ailments, this isn't always possible. Which is where Theraplate can bridge the gap so well. Don't forget, Theraplate DOES NOT use vibration, so is the perfect choice for skeletal issues such as breaks and arthritis too. And don't underestimate the Theraplate's usefulness for maintenance and well being too, it truly is the perfect all round tool! 😁
