Yesterday was National puzzle day. So this morning, we had a challenging time with puzzles, tangrams, how to find the secret entrance to a box, hidden pictures etc. It required a lot of thinking and working out, at times it was frustrating but we had a great time.

We had a wonderful visit this morning from the Cuddly Cavies Guinea pigs. We all were able to cuddle, stroke and feed them. It was such a lovely fun morning and brought back memories for many of when they used to keep guinea pigs themselves.

We had a fascinating talk from Ian, one of our volunteers this morning. He talked about when he helped to take aid to Ukraine at the start of the war. He talked about what they took and how they got there etc. A really interesting talk which we all enjoyed.

This afternoon we had our Late New Year party with a pub quiz followed by tea. It was a really fun afternoon, some questions much easier than others and others we had the answers on the tip of our tongue but couldn't quite get the answers. Lots of thinking, laughter and groans. The food was lovely and we generally had a great time in each other's company. Thank you to our wonderful volunteers for your help.

It's cold and snowy, so let's bring the inner child out and have a snowball fight - indoors with newspaper balls! We didn't get cold or wet and had a good laugh trying to get the 'snowballs' into the sledge (basket) or at Caroline the activities co-ordinator! 😆

We had a lovely morning with Mickey the PAT dog. He came and gave everyone a cuddle. We all enjoyed our time with him.

About Us

Edina Court was opened in 1986 by Lady Fermoy, the maternal grandmother of Diana, Princess of Wales. It had been the home of Mr and Mrs Alan Hudson, fruit farmers in Wisbech. On the death of his wife, Mr Hudson gave the house to MHA on the condition that 20 flats would be built for older people. The Hudson Foundation has continued to support MHA and has been fundamental in the ongoing development of MHA’s presence in Wisbech with donations totalling over £250,000.

In 1994, the Hudson Foundation generously donated the capital costs of The Haven, a Victorian house two doors down the road, and this was converted into twelve more apartments. Ten years later, Bramley Lodge was created, again with the support of the Hudson Foundation, providing 18 more apartments and a well-used library and games room for all residents to use.

At the same time, The Rosebank Centre was built with an incredible £500,000 from the Garfield Weston Foundation. The Centre serves up to 20 people with dementia. It aims to provide stimulation for its service users, while carers receive a well-deserved day’s rest and the reassurance that their loved ones are being well looked after.
