RIP PC Louie Day. 😪

The Metropolitan Police Federation report of the off duty death of our colleague PC Louie Day in the early hours of Friday morning.

He was 23.

It is important for officers who are struggling to know they are not alone, and that there are people there to help. This includes, for immediacy:

The Mental Health Crisis Line: call 0300 131 2789 and Samaritans: call 116 123.

The Metropolitan Police Federation are devastated to report the off duty death of our colleague PC Louie Day in the early hours of Friday morning.

He was 23.

Louie had become a Metropolitan Police officer early this year and was well thought of by those who knew and worked with him.

He had previously served in the force as a PCSO.

Our thoughts are with Louie’s family, friends and colleagues at this devastating time. We are supporting them as best we can.

There are not thought to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.

If any Metropolitan Police officers are in need of help, please talk to a colleague or a Metropolitan Police Federation Representative.

Today – 9th September, the UK comes together to mark Emergency Services Day, also known as 999 Day, a national day dedicated to recognising and celebrating the extraordinary work of the NHS and emergency services personnel across the country.

From nurses, police officers and firefighters to search and rescue teams and call handlers, almost 2 million people work and volunteer in the emergency services and NHS. Amongst them are 250,000 first responders—those who run towards danger to protect and save lives.

The idea for 999 Day was born from a family conversation. In 2001, following the tragic death in the line of duty of PC Alison Armitage of Greater Manchester Police, her colleagues planted a tree in her memory. Reflecting on this, Tom Scholes-Fogg’s grandfather, then Sgt John Scholes, told his grandson, who is now also a police officer: “In this country we don’t look after our emergency services as much as we should.”

Years later, Tom discovered that the UK had no national day to honour the NHS and emergency services. In 2016, he presented his plan for Emergency Services Day to government and quickly secured the support of Queen Elizabeth II, the then Prince Charles and Prince William, and the Prime Minister, with the first 999 Day taking place in 2017.

Tom, adds: “A simple conversation between a grandfather and grandson led to the creation of a national day that now unites our country.”

Emergency Services Day takes place on 9th September each year. 999 Day is your chance to show your support for our NHS and emergency services.

This is an absolute travesty. Arrested at home, for an alleged offence from 18 months earlier, just days after the birth of his child and whilst on Paternity Leave. 😡

There is currently no lawful obligation for Police Forces to record death in service by su***de, so the majority dont. If its not recorded then how can you identify the vulnerable and those at risk to PREVENT loss of life.

Police Care UK recently revealed that a Police Officer dies by su***de every 2 weeks.

How many people have to suffer and die before something is done. 🤬

Today Gary Hayes was with London Fire Brigade Cadets from G21 Harrow Fire Station, made up of young people and support by volunteers from the local communities of Harrow, Brent, and Ealing Boroughs watching them complete their academic years learning and development with LFB.

Part of being an LFB Cadet is focused around the young people supporting positive social action. Our Cadets have chosen to utilise their pass out ceremony to support and raise awareness for our good friends at PTSD999. PTSD can effect anyone and PTSD999 have been fantastic supporters of all of our young people and volunteers with LFB. Now it is time to give back to a charity that is invaluable and very close to our hearts.

During the pass out ceremony, cadets and volunteer will undertake the challenge of completing 999 laps of the drill yard at G21 Harrow Fire Station, one of the biggest drill yards in LFB. Alongside this the cadets and volunteers will be spreading awareness PTSD and the services of PTSD 999 to their families and friends, the local community, and representatives from the Boroughs of Harrow, Brent, and Ealing.

Your donations in support of our young people undertaking a challenge for such a worthwhile cause and your support for PTSD999 is very much appreciated

Update regarding Alastair Wortons London - Edinburgh - London cycle challenge.

Ali said "Unfortunately, the event had to be cut short due to Storm Floris—but we still rode over 760km in just three days. We pushed on as far as possible to raise vital funds for PTSD999, a cause that means a great deal to me.

The charity’s mission—to raise awareness of PTSD in the emergency services and provide training to identify and support those affected—is deeply personal. I’ve witnessed the toll it takes on colleagues, and initiatives like this are urgently needed to help those who dedicate their lives to helping others.

Every mile ridden and every pound raised brings us closer to better mental health support for our frontline heroes. Thank you to everyone who has supported this cause—your generosity makes a real difference."

Thus far Ali has to raised just over £2000 and is 81% towards reaching his £2500 target.

Once again a massive Thank You to Benjamin Pearson "Interceptor" and 1965 PTSD Awareness. The recent sale of a donated motorctyle and the Cops n Cars event have raised a combined total of an amazing £3000 for PTSD999.

Without the continued support and amazing fundraising we wouldn't be able to do what we do.

Thank you all so much
