Repost due to a scheduling error last week🙈

Happy World Breastfeeding in Public Day!

Remember, breastfeeding in public is protected by law💜

In the UK the Equality Act 2010 states that it is s*x discrimination to treat a woman unfavourably because she is breastfeeding.

In Scotland, breastfeeding is also protected by the Breastfeeding etc. (Scotland) Act 2005 under which it is an offence to stop someone in a public place from feeding their child, if under two, with milk. The legislation allows for fines for preventing breastfeeding in public places.

The safest place for your baby to sleep is in their own clear, flat, separate sleep space such as cot or moses basket.

Whether you choose to bed share or it is unplanned these are some key points you need to know to prepare.

Preparing the bed:
✅Keep pillows and adult bedding away from baby
✅Remove headboards that aren’t solid (e.g. slats)
✅Do not have other child or pets in the bed
✅Check baby can’t be trapped, wedged, or fall out
✅Never leave a baby alone in an adult bed
-
Do not co-sleep if:
❌ Baby was exposed to smoking in pregnancy
❌ Someone in the bed smokes
❌ Someone in the bed has taken medication that makes them sleepy
❌ Someone in the bed has consumed alcohol or drugs
❌ Baby was premature or weighed under 5½lb at birth
🚫 Never co-sleep on a sofa or armchair

Physio Friday!
Topic: Badger Notes

Badger Notes allows you real time access to your maternity, child or neonatal records.
The information that appears is generated in real-time from your hospital based system using details entered by your midwife or other health professionals involved in your care.

What are some of the benefits?
• Information can be shared with you directly from the maternity system.
• Only those with the correct login details are able to access the notes, meaning it is a safe store for your records.
• Your Care Plan displays week-by-week of your pregnancy. Each week will give you information about that week of pregnancy, including appointments and additional reading recommended that links you to specific leaflets within your Badger Notes Library.
• Information is available to support your recovery following your delivery as well as information to support your antenatal journey.

⭐️Make sure to turn on your notifications to receive reminders about recommended reading and other messages that are useful for your pregnancy!
