Organising my client notes today and having one of those pause-and-smile moments.
�This stack? It represents almost 1,000 clinical hours 😮

🏆 Every piece of paper holds so many client wins - from huge ones, like changing jobs or leaving the house after years of agoraphobia, to teeny-tiny ones, that cumulatively have created the momentum for positive change.

As I file them away, I’m honestly deeply moved - the power that Solution Focused Hypnotherapy has to help people, the trust my clients place in me, and by how much my practice has grown.

It’s humbling, a bit surreal, and also a reminder that this work truly changes lives.

…and honestly, it just makes me excited for what’s next.

Because if this many breakthroughs have already happened, I can only imagine the ripple effect still to come - the future clients who don’t even know yet that things are about to get lighter, easier, and possible 🥰

Life is all just a game of perspective 👀

Every thought, comparison and belief literally reshapes your neural pathways, training your brain to notice certain things and ignore others.

So if you keep comparing, your brain gets better at finding what you 𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘬.

If you start appreciating, your brain starts scanning for what’s 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥.

🧠 That’s neuroplasticity in action - your brain rewiring itself based on what you feed it.

So, maybe the real flex isn’t about having more …
It’s training your mind to 𝘴𝘦𝘦 differently.

If your week’s been full of tech fails and miscommunications, you’re in good company 🙃 and it’s probably not your fault!

🪐 Mercury is currently in retrograde (and will be until 29 Nov).

And whether you believe in that stuff or not, it’s a good reminder that we can’t control 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨.

❌ When tech fails, people miscommunicate or things don’t go to plan, our brain’s threat system kicks in fast.

It wants certainty, order, predictability.

But life (and Mercury, apparently) loves to test that.
And that constant need to ‘fix’ things can actually make us feel 𝘮𝘰𝘳𝘦 stressed, not less.

The trick is learning to soften your response, instead of tightening your grip.

Here are a few simple ways to help your brain (and nervous system) through it:
�💫 Before hitting send, reread your message (twice!)
💫 Back up your files & check your devices (Because yes, it feels like tech is being a d*ck atm)
💫 Pause before reacting - take a deep breath (or two!)
💫 If plans go sideways, ask yourself: 𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘤𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘴 𝘵𝘸𝘪𝘴𝘵?�💫 Keep a sense of humour - laughter helps calm your nervous system.

Because not everything needs micro-managing.

Sometimes, letting things 𝙟𝙪𝙨𝙩 𝙗𝙚 can the most regulated response of all.

A little goodbye (but also, a big hello!)

Today’s my last day in my lovely therapy room here in Witham 🥹�It’s been such a special space - full of breakthroughs, laughter, and those quiet moments of calm that mean so much. ��From Monday, I’ll be working in my beautiful private garden cabin in Hatfield Peverel.
�It’s just a short hop up the road for my current clients.
There’s off-street parking and it’s only a 2-minute walk from the station.

And if you’re not local (or prefer your therapy in pyjamas 😉), online sessions via Zoom are always available - equally as effective, super convenient and totally flexible.

I can’t wait to welcome both new and returning clients into this next chapter

Here’s to fresh energy, familiar comfort and lots of positive transformations ahead ✨

Ever felt like your brain’s running on 5% battery? 🪫
(And even simple things feel too much?)

👉 Low mood isn’t a weakness or a defect.

🧠 It’s your brain reacting to what’s going on around (and inside) you.

At this time of year, shorter days and less sunlight can lower serotonin levels (the chemical that helps regulate things like mood, energy and sleep).

Add in daily stresses or a busy mind, and it’s easy for the brain to slip into energy-saving mode 😩

The parts responsible for being rational, planning and optimism (our prefrontal cortex) go a bit quiet...

🚨While the emotional, threat-sensitive part (our amygdala) turns up the volume.

Have you ever noticed how anxiety changes the way you see yourself?

It’s like your mind suddenly zooms in on flaws, doubts, and ‘what ifs,’ until you can’t see your strengths at all.

That harsh inner voice can feel convincing…
👉 But it’s not the truth.

When we’re anxious, the part of the brain that’s meant to keep us safe (the amygdala) becomes overactive. It starts scanning for danger, even when there isn’t any, and sometimes that spotlight turns inward. You begin to analyse every word you said, every look you gave and every tiny mistake.

But what’s really happening is that your brain’s threat system is misfiring.

While you’re focused on what feels ‘wrong,’ other people are seeing your warmth, your compassion, your effort and your strength.

✨ Solution Focused Hypnotherapy helps calm that overactive threat response and strengthen the rational, calm part of the brain.

Did you know your brain doesn’t actually know the difference between what’s real and what’s imagined?

☺️ When we think about something negative, our brain activates similar emotional and physiological responses as if it were really happening.

Over time, this shapes how we feel day to day and can influence our overall mood and mindset.

👉 One simple, evidence-based way to support yourself is to 𝙘𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙘𝙞𝙤𝙪𝙨𝙡𝙮 𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙛𝙩 𝙛𝙤𝙘𝙪𝙨.

So instead of anticipating what might feel hard about this time of year, try to notice or imagine the small things that feel good. This helps retrain the brain’s attentional bias towards more positive emotional states.

🧡 For me, that looks like cozy nights in, woolly jumpers, hot chocolate, and seeing all the fab Halloween decorations around - small things that remind me there’s still good stuff to be found in the darker months.

😔 And if you’ve been feeling more tired, low, or unmotivated lately, you’re not alone. The shorter days and change in seasons can affect both our body and brain, influencing mood, energy, and focus.
