Our Advent Hamper Scheme returns for 2025, and it’s as easy as 1,2,3!
1. Find a box or container for your hamper. You can decorate and make it festive if you like.
2. Fill your container throughout November. It’s up to you what non-perishable and seasonal items you put in, and how much. You might like to share your hamper with a friend, or do it as a family. There are suggestions below if you need some ideas, but you can fill it with as much or as little as you like.
3. Drop your container in to Witham Information Centre by Wednesday 10th December for us to distribute to worthwhile causes throughout the town
You can help make a world of difference to someone's Christmas.

We found this insight post absolutely fascinating! So pleased to see that Witham BID business - Freestons Direct / Donald Freeston Fresh Produce Ltd - is embracing the Buy British sentiment and promoting the incredibly innovative, sustainable food production processes from Dyson Farming.

A fantastic initiative and we've already had a number of other businesses across the industrial estates following suit, with the help of the lovely people at Masterframe turning these otherwise waste buckets into fab looking planters for everyone to enjoy.

At Masterframe, we take our sustainability and environmental responsibilities very seriously.

Earlier on this year we started to recycle our used gasket buckets, spray painting in our in-house spray facility and then reusing as planters.

We had an amazing amount of interest in these from other companies based on our estate, so much so that we now offer these planters to other companies, painted in their corporate colours.

♻️🌍 WEEE Won’t Waste It Witham! 🌍♻️
Did you know that your old kettles, toasters, broken hairdryers, and that mystery drawer of random cables (we all have one!) are officially known as WEEE — Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment?
Instead of letting them gather dust or sneak into the general bin, let’s give them a proper send-off!
On the week of International E-Waste Day, WEEE in Witham can make a difference:
✅ Gather up your unwanted cables and gadgets —working or not, if it fits in a carrier bag, your WEEE collection point can take it.
✅ Drop them at Witham’s local WEEE collection points at the library or tip
✅ Spread the word! Tag a friend who’s definitely still hiding a Nokia 3310 somewhere 👀
Every cable, controller, and crusty old kettle you recycle helps recover valuable materials and protects our planet 🌱💚

𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐦 𝐫𝐨𝐚𝐝𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐮𝐫𝐟𝐚𝐜𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐛𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐳!

I know the last thing people want to hear about is more road closures but I am pleased to announce that Witham has quite a significant programme of road resurfacing works upcoming.

The good news is that these will be taking place overnight (between 20:00 and 6:00) to ensure disruption is minimal!

Works are expected to take place as follows:

🚧15th - 18th October in Freebournes Road, Perry Road and Pasture Road.

🚧20th – 28th October in Newland Street and Colchester Road

🚧28th October over the course of three weeks on B1018 Cressing Road, Braintree Road, Collingwood Road, Chipping Hill and Superstore Road

The roads will be closed in section rather than all at once. Ahead of each phase drivers will be warned not to park their car on that part of the highway to avoid disruption.

Thank you to everyone in advance for their patience and these works will significantly improve our road surface for years to come.

We also noted that this year's theme focuses on "feeling overwhelmed and the mental health impact of repeated exposure to news coverage of crises and conflicts."
