☕️ Fundraising for Farleigh Hospice 💛

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us yesterday for our Coffee Morning raising funds for Farleigh Hospice. We were delighted to welcome the wonderful Sally, an ambassador for the charity, who brought such warmth and passion to the event 🌼.

A special shout‑out goes to Fred and Ken 👴👴, our brilliant residents, and to Monica, our Wellbeing Lead 🎈, for blowing up balloons and decorating the Snug so beautifully. You made the space feel truly welcoming.

Our amazing cooks treated us to coffee and walnut cake, scones with cream and jam, and indulgent chocolate brownies 🍰✨. We were also spoiled with homemade bread pudding and lemon cake from the talented Alisha-Bakes essex 🍋🧁.

Thanks to everyone’s generosity, we raised an incredible £106.16 for Farleigh Hospice 💚.

Please keep your eyes peeled for our next upcoming Coffee Morning, where we’ll be raising funds for our next chosen charity ☕️💖.

🎨✨ Creativity and History Come Alive at Boars Tye House! ✨🏡

We had such a wonderful day today as visited Boars Tye House to chat with our residents about a very exciting creative project. There were lots of smiles 😊 and plenty of enthusiasm as we learned that our residents will be helping to make a Cricketeer doll to celebrate 100 fabulous years of Silver End! 🎉

Boars Tye House is lucky to sit right in the heart of Silver End, the charming garden village known for its unique Art Deco, flat‑roofed homes 🏠 created by Henry Francis Crittall. With the village turning 100 this year, there’s a real buzz in the air ✨ and this project is a perfect way to join in the celebrations.

Braintree Museum is working to re‑create the delightful Silver End dolls that the Silver End Women’s Institute crafted back in the 1930s 🧵. Only a handful of the original 100 dolls still exist, so the museum is bringing them back to life — and Boars Tye House has the honour of making one of them! 🧸💛

Our residents can’t wait to get creative, share memories, and be part of something that connects the past with the present. It’s a joyful way to celebrate Silver End’s heritage and add a little Boars Tye magic ✨ to this special anniversary year.

💬 We’d love your support!

🏁 Who fancies a race?

We enjoyed a lovely moment of fun today with a bit of Scalextric.
Fred took great care setting up the perfect track, and Martin, Peter and David couldn’t wait to challenge each other — the excitement was infectious!

Poor Monica didn’t quite get her turn, as the enthusiasm from the men kept the cars going nonstop, but the laughter and smiles around the room made the whole activity feel even more special.

Sunday = Chill Mode ON. 😌✨

Nothing beats a relaxed game of dominoes to keep the day easy and full of laughs. 🁫

Poor Natalie had to get a quick lesson from our very own Martin on how to play — but she picked it up in no time! 😄

A simple game, good company, and a Sunday well spent.

❤️ Valentine’s Meal at Boars Tye House ❤️

What a truly lovely afternoon shared by our residents and their families. Our kitchen team prepared a delicious Valentine’s menu — all freshly made on the day and, of course, made with love.

We began with vol-au-vents, followed by tarragon chicken with fresh vegetables, and finished with a choice of salted caramel apple crumble or chocolate/vanilla cheesecake. Pure comfort, pure joy.

As the bubbly was popping, the room filled with laughter, conversation, and soft romantic music drifting in the background. To top it all off, everyone received After Eight mints and a flower to end the afternoon on a sweet note.

It was a beautiful moment shared between residents and their loved ones — the kind of moment that reminds us exactly why we love what we do. ❤️

What does “specialist dementia care” actually mean?

It means trained staff.
It means care that adapts as dementia progresses.
It means understanding behaviour, communication and individual needs, not just memory loss.

At Boars Tye House, dementia is recognised as one of our specialist areas of care, with dedicated training embedded into daily life.
