The C&D Story
C&D Independent Speech Therapy was founded in Essex in January 2013 by Lizzie Fox and Cassie Pierson, initially to bridge the gap between what the NHS could provide and the service that families and schools felt the children needed. At the time, Cassie was working for the NHS and Lizzie worked for a specialist school, but as demand and reputation grew they both left their jobs and began working full time for C&D.
Cassie and Lizzie employed two more therapists in Essex in September 2015, and a year later Lizzie opened a second arm of the company in the South West. They opened a clinic in Essex in the summer of 2018, and in September 2019 will be expanding to North Wales, with Dawn Jones leading this part of the service. C&D has grown to a team of 10 therapists and an assistant.
Lizzie says: “We are absolutely committed to providing a gold-standard service to all of our clients. We value our therapists hugely and offer them high levels of supervision and training opportunities as well as ensuring that they are happy and fulfilled and maintain a positive work/life balance. We maintain positive relationships with the local NHS SALT services and work in harmony to achieve the best outcomes for our clients.”
