We’ve taken handover of 19 new affordable homes at Redlands Grove, Wanborough (near Swindon) - just in time for Christmas 🎄

These newly completed 2 and 3-bedroom homes are for affordable rent and shared ownership. Four of the 3-bedroom homes are also adaptable for wheelchair users or people with disabilities, meaning that the homes can cater for a wide range of needs

Built by Bellway Homes and Vistry, this marks the second phase delivered by Bellway at the site.

All of the homes are part of the wider Redlands Grove scheme, which will feature 370 homes, new primary and secondary schools, and open spaces for community life and recreation.

If you or someone in your Cottsway home has a disability or finds it hard to get around, help could be available to make everyday life easier. Some costs might even be covered by a Disabled Facilities Grant (DFG).

We may be able to arrange small changes like handrails, grab rails, or lever taps. For bigger changes, like a stairlift, level-access shower, wheelchair-friendly kitchen, or a large ramp, your local council’s occupational therapy team may be able to help.

That’s what happened for Dianne, pictured, who’s had an accessible shower and level-access path installed at her Cottsway home.

Dianne says: “I’m now able to get out of and into my home using my wheelchair and being able to sit down and shower means so much to me. I know that these are things that most people take for granted, but these little things are big for me and my family. It’s made life so much easier for me. I am so happy.”

The Regulator of Social Housing wants your views!

They’re proposing changes to some key rules and standards for social housing - including tenant access to information, electrical safety checks, and updates to Tenant Satisfaction Measures.

The consultation is open until 3 March 2026 and tenants, shared owners and anyone interested in social housing can take part.

Deanna and partner Wade moved into their two-bedroom Cottsway home in Finstock earlier this year.

After a planned stay abroad with family didn’t work out - and with Deanna heavily pregnant - the couple moved back to West Oxfordshire, where they had both lived before.

After spending eight months on the council’s housing waiting list while living with another family member – and with baby daughter Violet arriving in the meantime - finally having a home of their own was a huge relief.

With help from our Housing Team, the couple and nine-month-old Violet, have settled in quickly and are enjoying making the house their home. Green-fingered Deanna works part-time at a garden centre so is loving having a garden, while Wade is an apprentice at a car manufacturer.

Deanna said: “After being homeless and sleeping on a sofa, moving into our own house has been amazing and we love that it’s so peaceful. The staff at Cottsway have been really quick to help, usually fixing problems within a day or two. They even gave us a second-hand cooker through their furniture re-use scheme, which helped us out a lot. Since we moved in we’ve been busy decorating and doing work in the garden and it’s great to feel like we’re home at last.”

Our Community Fund supports projects that bring people together, boost wellbeing, and create new opportunities.

This year, we’ve made £30k available for individuals and community groups across West Oxfordshire, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire and Worcestershire. So far, £26k has already gone to 13 fantastic projects - from sports clubs and village halls to toddler groups and financial education sessions.

One of these is the Bampton Bush Centre, which received £2,400+ to provide accessible transport to its weekly lunch club. This means older residents like Rosemary (pictured) can still come along for food, fun, and friendship - helping to tackle isolation.

Centre Chairperson Suzy says:

“For over 40 years we’ve welcomed elderly and retired residents - many in their 80s and 90s, with our oldest member at 103! Cottsway’s support means those who struggle to get out can still join in. We’re run almost entirely by volunteers and are so grateful for the funding that keeps our community thriving.”

We’ve exchanged contracts to deliver 12 new affordable homes in Hughes Close, Charlbury with Deanfield Homes Ltd.

This scheme will offer a mix of one, two and three-bed properties - eight for social rent and four for shared ownership - all will feature air source heat pumps and EV charging points.

Construction begins early next year and is due to complete in winter 2026. Further details about the new homes will be shared closer to completion, including advertising those for social rent on Homeseeker Plus.

Meet our new apprentices!

We’ve recently welcomed Jake as an apprentice carpenter and Brandon as an apprentice electrician - both are massive football fans ⚽

Our apprenticeship scheme gives trainees the chance to learn directly from experienced team members while studying for industry-recognised qualifications.

Brandon says: “I’ve been gaining a lot of hands-on experience with electrical work alongside the operations team, who are very knowledgeable and always willing to share their expertise.

"This has really helped me build my confidence and improve my practical skills. College is also helping me expand my understanding of health and safety in the workplace, which I can apply directly on site.”

We have other members of the team preparing to qualify or who’ve already completed their apprenticeships and have progressed into permanent roles.

We wish Brandon and Jake and all our apprentices every success.

It's not every day that you get to give flowers to someone who is celebrating their 100th birthday, but that’s exactly what Lorna , our Community Investment Officer, did yesterday.

Lorna delivered this lovely bouquet of flowers to Alice, one of our customers, to mark her centenary celebrations.
