My story
I was very privileged to have one of the most qualified and experienced karate teachers in Europe. Starting at 8 years old and still learning now, martial arts is in my blood. I especially enjoy the beauty of the movement, meditation and mental challenge found in traditional forms of movement. The feeling of self-confidence and safety comes as a added bonus after years of hard training. For me, yoga postures are very much part of karate - an important element ensuring free flowing movement, which could be seen as the Yin (soft) part. Over the past few years (coinciding with the arrival of my first child) my own training has focused more on yoga and less on karate, I enjoy the peaceful practice of yoga and its benefits on my body and soul, and now want to share my knowledge with others.
My sporting background
Karate practitioner for 28 years (10yrs of competing, 18 yrs of teaching), currently hold Japan Karate Federation 3rd Dan Black belt
I have also studied/competed/enjoyed modern dance, ice-skating, varsity cross country running, judo, mountain biking
I have practiced yoga for the past 10 years studying several different styles, as well as reading extensively on the subject - particularly focusing on the chakra and health aspects yoga can offer
In 20011 I completed a bachelors degree in Sports and Exercise Science at Oxford Brookes University
I would be delighted to help you to achieve your aims.
