Equine Physiotherapy Oxfordshire is a friendly yet professional physiotherapy service design to meet the needs of your horse, or you, as a rider. Amy has been working as a Chartered Physiotherapist for over 15 years and completed a post-graduate diploma in Veterinary Physiotherapy with the University of the West of England (UWE) in2016 in order to treat animals with physiotherapy. She is registere
d with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP), the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), and the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Animal Therapy (ACPAT). Physiotherapy involves the assessment of posture, conformation, biomechanics and movement, followed by a a variety of treatment techniques, such as massage, joint manipulation, neuromuscular electrical stimulation and remedial exercise prescription in order to treat pain and dysfunction. Like humans, horses are susceptible to injuries, strains and joint pain and can benefit from physiotherapy in the same way as we do. So if your horse has been injured or had surgery, had a change in performance or seems stiff or in pain, consult your vet or a ACPAT Registered physiotherapist like Amy, as to whether physiotherapy might be a suitable option. Your horse must be registered with a vet in order to receive treatment. Amy also offers 'Rider Assessments', in which the rider is assessed for symmetry, balance, flexibility and muscle strength. She uses an assessment regime that picks up small discrepancies that can really impact your riding performance. Old forgotten injuries can leave you with muscle imbalance or asymmetries and certain riding habits may be related to a lack of muscle flexibility or strength. You and your horse are a team so why not book a 'Rider Assessment' so that you can work on your performance alongside having physiotherapy for your horse? I hope you enjoy this page, look out for the latest updates and deals along with hints and tips on injury management and physical training advice for you and your horse.
