🌍 Happy World Spine Day! 🦴
Your spine is your body’s central support, it protects your nervous system, keeps you moving, and connects every part of you from head to toe.
So what does each part do?
🩷 Cervical Spine (Neck) 7 vertebrae (C1–C7)
Supports your head and allows movement in all directions and protects nerves that control your head, neck, shoulders, and arms.
💙 Thoracic Spine (Mid-Back) 12 vertebrae (T1–T12)
Anchors your ribs and protects your heart and lungs as well as playing a key role in posture and stability.
💚 Lumbar Spine (Lower Back) 5 vertebrae (L1–L5)
Bears most of your body’s weight and absorbs stress from lifting and movement, it is very important for flexibility and strength.
🧡 Sacral Spine (Pelvic Area) 5 fused vertebrae (S1–S5)
Connects your spine to your pelvis, helping distribute weight evenly through your legs and is key for balance and walking.
🧡 Coccyx (Tailbone) 3–5 small fused bones at the very bottom of your spine.
Provides support and stability when sitting.
Why it matters:
Your spine houses the spinal cord, the main communication highway of your nervous system. When your spine is healthy and aligned, your whole body functions better, from movement to mood!
