Does this movement recreate your symptoms? 👀

The slump test is commonly used to assess for sciatic nerve irritation and neural tension.

Sciatica symptoms may include:
⚡️ pain below the knee
⚡️ tingling
⚡️ numbness
⚡️ burning pain

Not all leg pain is sciatica though — which is why assessment matters.

What I do after most runs👇

A quick mobility reset:
→ Calves
→ Hamstrings
→ Hip flexors
→ Quads
→ Ankles

Stretching can help you feel less stiff and maintain mobility…

…but it doesn’t automatically prevent injuries.

Running injuries are usually more complex than “tight muscles.”

Load management, strength training and recovery matter too.

Still, this routine helps me feel better heading into the next session 👌

Prone W, T & Y—simple, but seriously effective for building strong, healthy shoulders, upper backs and necks. Perfect for improving posture, preventing injury, and strengthening those smaller muscles most people ignore.

No weights? No problem. Light weights? Even better. Focus on control, not speed.

👉 Try to do 4-5 reps of each position

It was a real pleasure to be invited along to this week to talk about all things running and injury prevention 🏃

The big takeaway- running injuries are really common! But…the good news is that there is lots of things we can do to reduce the chances of this e.g. reviewing footwear/ orthotics, managing load, allowing adequate recovery and engaging in regular resistance training to keep those muscles and joints strong 💪

We live in a “fast-fix” culture, especially when it comes to pain. 😔 When that nagging backache or stiff neck hits, it’s so tempting to reach for a pill to make it stop right now.

Don’t get us wrong, opioids can help in some acute pain cases, but for many suffering with chronic pain, opioids are not the answer. They don’t fix what’s actually wrong; they just put a “silencer” on the pain signal. 🤫 This creates a dangerous path toward tolerance, side effects, and dependency.
