Prioritise yourself, make small changes and watch them add up. Incorporating something small into your life until it becomes a habit is the best way to start, which you can then build on. Over time these actions compound and small consistent efforts can create a ripple effect leading to big changes 💫

Prioritise your sleep.
Prioritise your nutrition.
Prioritise movement.
Learn to say no.
Spend time with people you love.

Prioritise you.

What’s the first thing you do when you have had a stressful day?

For me it’s grab this guys lead and go for a walk. Albeit a sloooow, sniff every blade of grass and leaf kind of walk 🙃🫠 (is it just a terrier thing?!) but just being outside makes such a difference to me.

Walking, as well as being outside in nature is a natural stress reliever. It can help reduce muscle tension and help you breathe deeper and think clearer.

Dealing with stress and anxiety is so important so it doesn’t compound. Finding ways to do this that fit into your life and work for you can be a bit of trial and error.

If you’re using more unhealthy techniques at the moment.. smoking, alcohol, doom scrolling for example, maybe just try a short walk instead for once and see how you feel after it?

Hypnotherapy is also fabulously relaxing and can help tremendously - just incase you were wondering 😉

Firstly I’m going to start with a few ideas that we can all do. They take no time out of your day and don’t require any equipment. They can just be built in, whether you’re working full time, have a Velcro baby attached to your hip, live with chronic pain or most other challenges in life, all of these are accessible.

Nothing changes if nothing changes, but that change doesn’t always need to be huge. Small steps create the biggest momentum.
Trying to stick to a few of these can make a world of difference.

Next I’ll give a few more suggestions which require more time and effort, which I remember thinking I personally would never be able to give when I had a newborn, so I get it. It is tough! Having absolute basics though to fall back on can give you more of a steady footing to move forward from. Hopefully these may create that base for you.

Starting out with something easier like this can often be the catalyst to fit in something more, something that may require more thought, planning or time. So why not give them a go and who knows where it might lead?

👉🏻 A note that some of these are caused also by medical conditions which require ruling out by a doctor first.

Everyone experiences stress differently. These are just some of the ways that can manifest itself in our bodies. Stress can often creep up on us with more subtle signs we may not even recognise straight away. Chronic long term stress when not dealt with can impact your health long term.

Calming down your nervous system and that unhelpful (when over active) stress response is key to making sure the compound effects of stress don’t add up and take a toll on your mind and body in the long term.

you can make manageable changes to prioritise yourself and your health.

Hypnotherapy can help turn down that alarm system, along with other daily actions which we will cover soon ✌🏻

🙌🏻

Stress is something we all experience at some point in our lives. In the UK, 79% of adults have experienced stress at least once a month. 74% reported feeling overwhelmed at some point in the past year.

What one person may find stressful, another may thrive on. However when we experience chronic stress it can lead to a constant feeling of overwhelm, burnout and many other related symptoms.

Stress IS healthy, but only in the right way.

If you’re feeling constantly stressed, unhappy and looking for ways to help yourself cope better, follow along for things to look out for and small steps you can start with to make big changes.

Imagination in children is wonderful. 🤩
My son is right at the age of Spider-Man “webbing” me every chance he gets, “the floor is lava!” And making me cups of tea and rather unappetising plastic meals consisting of baked beans on a piece of fish with a slice of cheese. 😬

As adults we still have this imagination, but often we don’t put it to good use. Rather than visualising good things happening, to us and our future, we often find ourselves imagining the worst of a situation. Or sometimes completely made up, but negative scenarios.

This negative imagination can lead to a stress response in our body, increasing our fight or flight response over time, leaving you feeling anxious, lethargic or on edge, with many other physical manifestations.

Try breaking the cycle and imagining a positive scenario instead. A good outcome arising from an upcoming situation. See if you feel differently when that situation actually comes around or at least, just feel better in the lead up to it.

If you struggle with this, hypnosis can help you visualise those better outcomes whilst in a deeply relaxed state, keeping that niggling inner critic at bay.

We might not be able to go back to our childlike imagination, but we can certainly use our visualisation abilities to our advantage. 🪄

On world kindness day 2023, how kind are you going to be to yourself today?

A lot of these behaviours listed are learnt in childhood as coping mechanisms but they can lead to you being trapped in a cycle of inappropriate ultra high alert with the brain believing the threats you tell it are out there.

Being on high alert would have been a great strategy for our caveman ancestors, but not our every day life now. Constant fear driven behaviour and worry is exhausting and can make our pain intensify, as well as feelings of anxiety, overwhelm and low mood.

Worrying about everything, putting pressure on yourself to achieve, beating yourself up when you fall short of your expected and not advocating for yourself by people pleasing can all lead to a brain thats on constant high alert.

Hypnotherapy can help break these habits and use the power of your subconscious mind to form new more useful behaviours. We can lift that fog that weighs you down and help you to see the future that you can create for yourself, removing limiting beliefs and emotional triggers along the way.

Get in touch via my DM or email to arrange a no obligation discovery call.

What thoughts are you feeding your body?
How would you like it to react instead?

👉🏻Only you have the power to change those reactions, by learning how to control your emotional responses and thought patterns.

You do have the power to take control of your life and by harnessing the power of your subconcious mind, change habitual ways of coping and living on auto pilot.

It will just take that first step. 🪜

Fear.

One of the greatest motivators of behaviour choice. A primal instinct. But not one that can’t be harnessed to work with us in the modern world.

Mind/body symptoms including pain can often be driven/worsened by fear. It can be a component of symptoms becoming and staying chronic.

The feeling of threat maintained in our nervous systems through fear is due to a number of factors.

🧠Hyper vigilance over symptoms. Constant scanning of the body for pain can increase danger signals in the brain.

🧠 Lack of self belief. Maintaining the belief that pain is only a physical manifestation and there is no link between mind body connection can maintain fear behaviours, keeping symptoms at the forefront of the mind.

🧠 Catastrophising. Being constantly worried about your condition and imagining the worse case scenarios tricks your brain into believing it’s happening, increasing pain and other stress response symptoms (eg palpitations.)

🧠 Avoidance behaviours. Being scared of making things worse or increasing symptoms can actually lead to worsening itself. Not partaking in any physical activity for example can impact you not only physically but also mentally as the impact of even gentle exercise on our brains is fascinating.
Avoiding others through feeling misunderstood can lead to social isolation and loneliness.

I have seen first hand how debilitating chronic pain and chronic illness can be. But through hypnotherapy, EFT, NLP and breathing techniques I can help you reduce the activation of the hyper-vigilant area of your limbic system in which fear is driven.
By doing this we can work together to come up with skills to help you cope more effectively and so increase the quality of your life as you find your personal ways to manage symptoms or heal.

If you’re ready to take the first step towards a more comfortable life, send me a DM or email and we can see how much hypnotherapy could help you.

Chronic Pain.

Pain is so multi factorial and impactful so these are just a few basics.
Whilst I can never pretend to know what living with chronic pain feels like, I can through my previous osteopathic work, understand just some of the impacts that it can have on the person after speaking to people who suffer from the debilitating effects.

There are things that can be done to help though. ✨ From hypnosis to EFT and breathwork to name a few, cultivating a mind body connection is crucial to dealing with the effects of chronic pain or illness.

Healing takes time. ⏰

Although this is a chiropractic quote, it can resonate with many aspects of our lives. Although it’s important to remember that even though the word “healing” is used - you are not broken.

Solution focused hypnotherapy, compared to many other forms of therapy is fast acting, with the average amount of sessions between 6-10. ⏩

People can make these changes quickly in many aspects of their lives including but not limited to anxiety, chronic pain, burnout, confidence.

Did you know, studies have found hypnotherapy to be able to produce significant decreases in pain with many chronic pain problems, therefore improving quality of life of the people involved.

In my 12 years previously as an osteopath, I have seen the huge and debilitating impact that chronic pain can have on someone’s life. From relationships, to work, to movement. Everything is impacted.

Take the first step on a healing journey and contact me to find out how hypnotherapy could help you improve your quality of life.

After returning to work from maternity leave, I have discovered just how tough it is to run a business (or quite honestly do anything!) with children around.
Everything seems to have to take a back seat, with a constant stream of nursery bugs and baby naps to tend to, it can be tough to prioritise. Taking care of you is often on the back burner but is vitally important, not only for yourself but for your children.

For that reason, I am offering a 30% reduction in online session fees to any other mums who may be struggling. This could be with anxiety, stress, overwhelm or low mood. I want to help you become the resilient person that you are.

As I only work part time around my children, this offer is limited to only 4 mums, so please share with anyone you think could be interested in the power of hypnotherapy and please have a look at my website for more details.

Anyone is welcome to email me for a discovery call/zoom or to ask a few questions about hypnotherapy and how could help you.

I look forward to hearing from you.

Andrea

✨ Glimmers ✨

These are small moments of joy and positivity that can create a lasting impact on us, in the opposite way to a trigger.

They are brief, powerful experiences or happiness, joy, positivity or awe that can have have a significant impact on our mental and emotional well-being.

Glimmers are unique and subjective to each individual person. So finding and recognising what brings you joy personally is key. Noticing glimmers throughout the day can help boost your mood and outlook on the future.

Examples of glimmers:

☀️ an amazing sunset
🌈 seeing a rainbow
🎨 a new creative hobby
🎶 listening to your favourite music.

Think about any glimmers in your day, recall them before bed each night and absorb the feel good feelings ✨

(Note - figs on toast might not be anyone else’s idea of a glimmer🤣, but I wait aaaallll year for the Turkish figs to be in date and I LOVE them 😍😍)
