We’ve had smaller ones before, but this is definitely an upgrade. Bigger, more space to explore, and lots more to do.

Project Number Two💧

Our brand new water wall is ready!

This is something we’ve never had before, and I’m so excited to introduce it to the children. There’s just something about flowing water that draws them straight in. Pouring, watching, experimenting, and figuring things out as they go.

All set up and ready for lots of splashing, exploring, and curious little minds at work… I have a feeling this is going to be a favourite!

I’m so excited to share the first of my bank holiday projects! 🌻

Our brand new mud kitchen is ready!

After our last one finally gave up the ghost (after a very well-loved three years!), it was definitely time for a little upgrade, and I couldn’t love this one more.

All set up and ready for lots of mixing, creating, and muddy fun this week… I can’t wait to see what our little Sunflowers make and create!

🌻 Behind the scenes this bank holiday weekend… 🌻

While it might look quiet from the outside, a lot goes on here behind the scenes to keep our environment fresh, engaging, and ready for the children.

This weekend has been full of building, varnishing, and preparing new resources, all to support the children’s play, exploration, and learning.

📸 Pictured: one of our new resources in progress, mid-varnish and getting ready for use.

It’s not always the glamorous side of childcare (and definitely involves a bit of sweat and hard work 😄), but it’s all worth it to see the children enjoy and make the most of what’s been created 💛

The alphabet is something we explore little by little through everyday play, stories and conversation.

From books to signs and even our names, letters are all around us.

Some days are full of giggles and excitement… and some days feel a little wobbly.

In our little setting, we make space for it all.
🌻 Big feelings
🌻 Quiet feelings
🌻 Happy, sad, frustrated, tired
🌻 Even the ones we don’t quite understand yet

I gently support the children to recognise how they feel,
talk about it in their own way,
and know that it’s always okay to feel.

Because when children feel safe to be exactly who they are, that’s when the real magic happens.

And sometimes… we all need that reminder.

Weather Play 🌦️

Exploring the weather through hands-on play helps our Sunflowers make sense of the world around them.

Using these stacking and balancing blocks, alongside sensory bottles filled with clouds, rainbows, and sunshine, supporting curiosity, coordination, and early understanding of different weather types.

It’s a lovely mix of calm, creativity, and discovery.

All set and ready for a new week 🌿

Our mud kitchen has had a good clean and refresh, ready for lots of exploring, mixing, and imaginative play.

This space always brings so much learning through play. As we use the mud kitchen, we’ll be supporting:

🌻 Imagination and role play – creating recipes, storytelling, and pretending
🌻 Communication and language – talking, sharing ideas, and working together
🌻 Early maths skills – scooping, pouring, filling, and exploring quantities
🌻 Physical development – strengthening little hands through stirring, lifting, and pouring
🌻 Understanding the world – exploring natural materials like water, soil, and leaves

I love how something so simple can create so many opportunities for learning. I can’t wait to see what our little sunflowers create this week 🌻
