Our Princess Christian Care Home Chef Assistant Eduard has once again been keeping on his toes and last month ran in the picturesque Windsor Half Marathon.

"I wanted to share an update on my recent race at the Windsor Half Marathon on Sunday 28 September, which I completed for the second time. The course, set in the beautiful Windsor Great Park, was both scenic and challenging, with rolling hills and stretches of gravel that tested both endurance and technique. The atmosphere was incredible, with fantastic support from spectators along the route. 😃

I'm pleased to report that I achieved a personal best time of 1 hour and 33 minutes, improving my previous time by five minutes. I'm now steadily progressing toward my ultimate 2025 goal of finishing under 90 minutes. ⌚️

It’s a real honour to wear the Nellsar logo on my running vest as I continue to push my limits and represent our Care Home community. My recent improvements are the result of structured training, including speed sessions – often the toughest part of the routine but essential for progress. As with many things in life, consistency and hard work are key, both in sport and beyond.🏅

From a nutrition standpoint, I’ve been focusing on proper fuelling and recovery, particularly the importance of carbohydrates before and after runs to optimise performance and muscle repair.🍞

I’m incredibly grateful for the support I receive from my colleagues at Princess Christian. Their encouragement before each race genuinely motivates me to give my best (and not let them down!). Huge thanks to them all. It truly means a lot and keeps me inspired to keep going, improving, and maybe one day even competing for first place!"

Our Management, Admin, and Training teams here at Princess Christian Care Home have been selected as finalists for the Innovation in Technology Award proudly embraced a remarkable digital transformation — one that has redefined how we deliver care, support our teams, and connect with families. 🎉

We are also immensely proud to celebrate Yessica, our finalist for Care Worker of the Year. Since joining Princess Christian in 2019, Yessica has been the heartbeat of our dementia care community — radiating compassion, resilience, and quiet brilliance in everything she does. Working in one of our most complex dementia units, Yessica’s gentle approach and intuitive understanding bring comfort to those often hardest to reach. 🙌

Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming a Petting Farm to Princess Christian Care Home for a special visit – and what a highlight it was for all of us! The team from Browells Pet Therapy in Chobham brought along two gorgeous pigs and three beautiful English Blue kittens, something a little different from the animals we usually see. 🐖 🐾 Our ladies and gents were delighted to meet them, commenting on how gentle and affectionate they were. Some of our residents even got the chance to bottle-feed the animals, which was such a wonderful hands-on experience, bringing lots of smiles.🍼🤗 What a fantastic afternoon! We thoroughly enjoyed all the cuddles and conversation, and together we made some happy memories to treasure. 😊

On Thursday 18 September, our Head Chef Cosmin hosted a fun-filled Cooking Club session with our residents here at Princess Christian Care Home, whipping up delicious pancakes on our portable hob 🥞. Pancakes are always a favourite at here and this session was no exception! Our residents loved getting involved and, of course, tasting the finished treats, topping them with a choice of sweet jams or tradition lemon and sugar. Our Recreation and Well-Being Team member Abby was delighted to be on hand to help with the activity 🙌. It was a wonderful way to spend time together – with plenty of tasty pancakes to go around! 😋

Last weekend, Princess Christian Care Home was proud to have a stall at the Pirbright Village Fair, where we enjoyed meeting lots of lovely people and sharing more about the care and services we provide. Our Well-being Manager, Maria, offered soothing hand massages which were very popular with visitors, while our Physiotherapist, Noor, spoke about the many ways physiotherapy can make a real difference to quality of life 🪷🙏.

It was a fantastic opportunity to connect with the community and highlight the special support we offer within our Home. Pirbright also holds a special connection to Princess Christian, as it was Lord Roberts who generously donated the land where our Home was first built. It felt fitting to be part of such a well-loved local event.

Our Resident Liaison Christine was particularly smitten with the donkeys at the fair and was tempted to bring one back with her, but it wouldn’t fit in the minibus! 🫏🤗

On Thursday 4 September, our residents at Princess Christian Care Home enjoyed another fantastic Cooking Club session, where they got busy peeling and chopping fresh vegetables to prepare a hearty soup. Nothing went to waste, as all the leftovers were set aside for our compost – something we take pride in as part of this much-loved activity 🥕🥔.

We were delighted to welcome two special guests to our Cooking Club – Leni, our Head of Nutrition and Wellness, and Adelina, Residents Dining Experience Lead at Nellsar. It was wonderful to share the experience with them and to showcase just how popular Cooking Club is in our Home - with one resident commenting it was their favourite activity of all 😃!

As well as preparing soup, our residents also made a delicious dessert – smashed chocolate rice cakes – with the support of our team members Abbie and Aleeta. The activity was full of fun, creativity, and teamwork, and everyone was very pleased with the tasty results 😋.

On Wednesday 3 September, we were delighted to welcome Owl Adventures to Princess Christian Care Home, giving our residents the chance to enjoy an unforgettable experience with some truly magnificent birds of prey 🦅.

The visit featured Henry, a striking European Eagle Owl; Dusty, a graceful Barn Owl; Gismo, a delightful Little Owl; and a majestic Harris Hawk. Each bird had its own character and charm, and our residents loved having the opportunity to see them up close 👀.

Alongside admiring their beauty, our residents learned fascinating facts about the owls and hawk. The visit was a unique experience that sparked plenty of interest and wonderful conversations, creating lasting memories for everyone. What truly magnificent creatures! 🦉🙌

Our residents at Princess Christian Care Home were recently treated to a truly special afternoon with a live Doris Day tribute performance 🎙️. The talented singer filled our Home with timeless classics such as Que Sera, Sera and Secret Love, sparking smiles, laughter, and treasured memories throughout the room 🤩.

It was wonderful to see our residents joining in with the songs, tapping their feet, clapping along, and sharing fond stories of the much-loved Hollywood star. The lively atmosphere created a real sense of togetherness, as music brought everyone closer and brightened the day 🎼😃.

The event was not only entertaining but also uplifting, offering our residents the chance to reminisce and enjoy a joyful trip down memory lane. 🤗

Princess Christian – an outstanding centre of excellence

An outstanding centre of excellence providing person-centred care for elderly people with nursing needs or those who have been diagnosed with dementia or related illnesses. Princess Christian Care Centre is located in the peaceful setting of Stafford Lake in the heart of the Surrey countryside. Close to Woking and the villages of Bisley and Knaphill, we are very much part of the local community.

We are a large, modern care home comprised of three specialist units (Bisley, Pirbright and Knaphill), each with their own separate facilities, lounges and kitchens and all bedrooms have ensuite facilities. We also have an in-house hair salon. Our bright and spacious lounges overlook the courtyard and gardens and provide the perfect setting for relaxing, taking part in activities or simply spending time with family and friends who are welcome to visit at any time.

Famed for our amazing food and dining, Princess Christian is extremely proud to have received an overall rating of ‘Outstanding’ from their CQC inspection in January 2020 – something that only 4% of UK Care Homes have managed to achieve. The CQC report highlights the Home’s outstanding person-centred care, responsive and knowledgeable staff, and their exceptional end-of-life care and support for both residents and their families.

Princess Christian Care Centre boasts the Investors in People Gold award and is Platinum Accredited by the Gold Standards Framework – the hallmark of superior person-centred end of life care. Our ISO 9001 certification is testament to our commitment to consistently improving the running of our Home and the efficiency of the services we provide for our residents.
