Our Soul Cafe is back!

Next workshop

Mental Health in the Workplace: How to Work Without Losing Your Mind

Date: Wednesday 1st November

Venue: Two Ducks

Time: 7.00pm for shopping & 7.30pm for start of workshop

If your job or career has ever negatively impacted your mental health, then this is a must-attend workshop for you.

Cate Sevilla is a local, published author and full-time working mum. This workshop will look into the five big lessons from her book ‘How To Work Without Losing Your Mind’, including:

Practical strategies for managing mental health at work

Why it’s so important to have difficult conversations, even if it's awkward

What’s in our control/not in out control

Dealing with health crises at work (e.g. miscarriage/perimenopause/major illness etc)

Cate is the Editor-in-Chief of HuffPost UK and has managed editorial teams for some of the world’s largest media and tech companies, including Google and Microsoft, and BuzzFeed UK. Her writing has appeared in The Independent, iNews, The Big Issue, Insider and Grazia Magazine. Born in California, Cate moved to London when she was 20 to be with a British man she met on MySpace – 17 years later, they’re still together, happily married and live in Surrey with their dog, Barbara, and their beautiful son.

This workshop is primarily aimed at those in office/desk-based jobs but many of its insights will apply to anyone in employment – or self-employment!

Cate will talk about her career and how it led her to write her book, share her five key points from her book, and present a reading from the book before opening up for a Q&A.

Our bodies are designed to move 🚶🏻‍♀️ and will commonly start to grumble at us if we sit or stand still for long periods of time.

At the last Soul Cafe Essence Studio studio owner Rhian guided everyone through some simple seated and standing movements to help ease common aches and pains felt by desk workers and those holding their bodies in a fixed position for long periods of time.

As a follow up to the evening Rhian has filmed this short seated & standing movement session which will be shared with everyone who attended the evening at TWO DUCKS 📧

We would like to share with you this 3 week Journaling And Meditation Course which is being run by our Soul Sister

Why not join Emma at the beautiful studio over at Miles green farm in Bisley, for cosy evenings of exploring thoughts, feelings and emotions in a gentle way whilst practicing self care!

Each week will be based around a different theme to explore self compassion, connection and discovery. You will be invited to relax and enjoy some guided meditations and visualisation exercises and thought provoking journal prompts to guide you through your individual journey.

This will be held on 19th, 26th June and 3rd July, from 19.45pm to 20.45pm at The Enchanted studio, (Next to the Bisley Yurt) on Miles green farm, Queens road, Bisley.

Your ticket includes 3x 60 minute sessions, and your very own journal to use and keep . Herbal teas will be provided free of charge at every session.

It is recommended that you bring a yoga mat, cushion and blanket to allow yourself to get extra cosy!

Journaling can be an extremely healing and cathartic process, and sometimes quite emotional – If you are currently or have experienced significant trauma in your life, you may wish to consult a mental health professional before embarking on this course , mindful meditation is unsuitable for those experiencing active psychosis also. If you have any specific questions regarding suitability and content, please do reach out to Emma at emma@emmamartinmindfulness.com to find out more 💕

Welcome to our monthly movement minute…this month we would like to share with you 4 simple movements that you can do either sitting down or standing up. These movements are brought to you by our Soul Sister Rhian of Essence Studio

Why is movement important?

Regular movement can prevent you from stiffening up, it can also make you feel good, and energize you. When we have long periods of time when our bodies are in one position; for example when sitting at a computer or standing still, aches and pains can start to manifest. This can create a feeling of irritation, low mood and sluggishness. Incorporating a few simple movements into your day can help to keep aches and pains at bay and increase your energy levels & focus.

Each month we will be sharing with you a few simple movements that you can incorporate into your day. Worried you may not find the time? How about putting a reminder on your phone or a post it note on your kettle and do a few moves while the kettle is boiling. You’ll be surprised at how much better you’ll feel even after a few minutes of movement 💕

Growth is painful. Change is painful. But nothing is as painful as staying stuck somewhere you don’t belong.

At last weeks women’s wellness ‘Soul Cafe’ we introduced you to the lovely Michele Poultin .forlife

A thought provoking evening where we explored the science behind why we resist change, simple tools to retrain the brains response to change, and how growth and change can help slow the aging processes. 🧠

I for one came away from lasts nights discussion with a little more understanding of why I react to certain situations the way I do, why some people in my life trigger me and bring out certain behaviors in me and what I can do to help myself manage these triggers and my reactions. 🙏

Next months Soul Cafe is on Wednesday the 14th June and our guest speaker will be Jodi Finch .from.with.in book your space via the two website 💻

A BIG thank you to all the wonderful women who joined us last week to help create a safe space where everyone could share without judgement 💕
