👋 Meet Our Team – Abbie Clark, Deputy Physio Manager

This week’s spotlight is on Abbie Clark, Deputy Physio Manager at Nuffield Health Woking Hospital who has recently returned following her maternity leave.

Abbie qualified from King’s College London in 2014 and began her career as a rotational Physiotherapist in the NHS, where she built a broad foundation of skills and experience. She later moved into private practice, choosing to specialise in Musculoskeletal and Orthopaedics. Alongside her main role, Abbie has gained valuable pitch‑side rugby experience and worked in sports rehabilitation with Bracknell Rugby Club and Harlequins Academy.

At Nuffield Health Woking Hospital, Abbie treats a wide range of conditions and supports patients through post‑operative rehabilitation. Her expertise covers joint pain, repetitive strain injuries, postural‑related pain, trauma, joint replacements, and muscle repairs. She is also qualified in acupuncture and Pilates (level 1), which she uses to aid recovery from various musculoskeletal conditions.

Abbie has a particular interest in wrist and hand care, completing her level 1 accreditation in 2021. She works closely with consultants to ensure the best treatment approach and is trained in wrist and hand splinting, helping patients manage conditions such as Dupuytren’s disease and thumb jointreplacements.

With a background in both private practice and high‑level sport, Gemma has worked with elite athletes and international teams, bringing a wealth of experience to her role. She collaborates closely with consultants and fellow physiotherapists to deliver the highest standard of patient care.

Outside of work, Gemma is a keen gymnast, enjoys weight training, and loves walking her rescue dog.

🦿 Half a Century of Mako Success with Mr James Platt

On Friday 28th November, our hip and knee orthopaedic surgeon, Mr James Platt, marked a major milestone at Nuffield Health Woking Hospital — his 50th robotic orthopaedic procedure.

This achievement also saw him complete his very first all‑robotic surgery list, bringing his total number of robotic procedures to 53. To celebrate the occasion, Elise Murphy, a representative from Stryker, kindly baked a delicious chocolate cake which was shared and enjoyed by Mr Platt’s theatre team and all staff working in theatres that day.

Last week, Mr Vinod Gangwani, together with Miss Emily Shao from Nuffield Health Guildford Hospital, delivered insightful talks and assisted in hands‑on Omnigen training at the Hilton Woking.
