Elderly Care -
Asking for elderly care at home can be one of the biggest decisions you ever have to make, whether you can no longer manage on your own, would enjoy some company or you need help caring for a loved one. With our help and support you will be able to continue to live happily and confidently in your own home for as long as you want to and it is safe to do so. Much of our work for our elderly clients goes on behind the scenes and involves the co ordination and management of all the partners involved in their Care. On a weekly basis we can work and liaise with:
Family members
GP's
District Nurses
Pharmacists
Physio Therapists
Chiropodist
Dentist
Optometrist
Service funders
Social & case workers
Hairdressers
Maintenance workers

This joined up and coordinated approach provides a complete solution and is invaluable to family members and friends that can't be with their loved ones but who want to know that they are safe and well. Dementia Care -
Over 60% of the people we help and support have dementia. Our dementia care team are very aware of the impact that dementia has on those who have the disease and the loved ones, family and friends that surround them. With thoughtful management and informed insight it is very possible to reduce the anxiety and stress of those with dementia. This can make a positive difference to how they live their lives and how it affects those around them. Live in care -
If you are looking for exceptional quality live in care in in Surrey, in the Guildford, Woking and Leatherhead areas, we can provide a tailor made live-in care solution that meets your needs, whilst remaining in the comfort and familiarity of your own home. Whether you are thinking about short term respite following a stay in hospital, or help on a long term basis due to general ill health, disability or lack of mobility we will listen to what you would like and then help you to achieve it. A member of the Home Counties Carers team will meet with you to provide a no obligation initial assessment at your home or in hospital. Once we understand your needs and preferences we can agree what level of support is required and then select the best carer from our team to who best meets these. As with all our carers we only recruit those that are:
Friendly
Reliable
Trustworthy
Competent

If you have any questions about our live in care services in Surrey, or would like to arrange an assessment please call 01483 224 985. Personal Home Care -
We feel strongly that our clients are supported with their personal home care needs to enable them to take the lead role whilst our carers are there as a reassuring presence. We feel that supporting rather than doing where possible promotes their independence and dignity. Our carers will be on hand to assist and support with:
Bathing
Showering
Washing
Toileting
Oral hygiene
Continence care
Catheter management
Grooming
Shaving
Application of creams

Post operative care and Convalescence -
Recovering from an operation and can be a slow and frustrating process. It is quite common for people to try to return to a normal active life only to aggravate the healing process and prolong the period of post operative care and convalescence. Putting a support package in place pre-operatively can aid a smooth and full recovery. In addition to the normal tasks our Carers perform on a daily basis they can be trained and taught to deal with specific needs post op, for example:
Helping with exercises
Managing equipment
Assistance with medication

Equally they can do the more day to day tasks that might get overlooked, for example:
Preparing meals for the family
Running errands
Collecting the children from school
Washing and ironing

Respite Care -
Respite care in the form of highly professional home care on a temporary, short-term basis, is a very important part of the personal home care equation. Respite care allows those who are caring for family members or relatives in their home to take a valuable break from their caring duties - this is often of considerable benefit to the health and well-being of the caregiver. At Home Counties Carers we take great pride in providing respite caregivers who can blend seamlessly into the caring routine of the home, quickly getting to know the care receiver and taking over the routine of the permanent carer. Home Counties Carers can provide professional carers from 1 hour a day right through to longer periods such as 1 or 2 weeks at a time. As with all our care packages we will undertake an initial care package assessment to get a fuller understanding of what the situation is and to listen to what the client would like from their support package. Commonly carers like to take a few hours a week to get out of the house, meet friends, attend appointments, do some shopping, getting their hair done and generally take a well earned break. It helps enormously knowing that whilst they are out there is a friendly, reliable, trustworthy and caring person looking after their loved one, keeping them safe and comfortable in surroundings that they know. Our services are nothing new; it’s the personalised way we deliver them that makes us different. We provide continuity of carers so the client is always visited by a friendly carer who they know, like and trust. All new carers are introduced and spend some time with their clients before they carry out their first home care visit. All our carers are trained and vetted to the highest standards.

Tips for staying safe online from Chores & Challenges 👇

It's World Password Day 🔐

Passwords help protect our personal information, bank accounts, emails and devices - but keeping track of them can sometimes feel overwhelming, especially when every account seems to need something different.

A few simple tips can make staying safe online much easier:

✅ Use strong passwords with a mix of words, numbers and symbols
✅ Avoid using the same password for multiple accounts
✅ Be cautious of unexpected emails or messages asking for login details
✅ Consider using a trusted password manager to help keep everything secure
✅ Turn on two-factor authentication where possible for extra protection

At Chores & Challenges, we know technology can sometimes feel frustrating or confusing. Our Hatha Helpers regularly support older people with everyday tech tasks - from setting up devices to staying connected safely online 💻

A little support can make a big difference 💪

Landlines are switching from analogue to digital which could stop telecare devices working. Landline providers can help 👇

Do you know someone who relies on a telecare device to summon help in an emergency, like a fall at home?

There are only 9 months to go until traditional analogue landlines across the UK are replaced by digital ones. Some older alarms, pendants or wrist devices could stop working.

If you already have internet access at home and your phone is connected to the same line you should be fine. But if you’re not sure, or the line is the one you’ve always had, call the landline provider to check - and tell them you’re a telecare user. They’ll be able to advise further.

The Coffee Shop ☕ at Send Parish Church returns this morning. This month all the monies raised will be going to Dementia Research UK 👇

☕ Coffee Shop tomorrow 20th April 10-12 🍫

We are looking forward to seeing you.
Our stall will be filled with delicious chocolates and sweets.

This time, we will be supporting Dementia Research UK, a charity dedicated to improving the lives of people affected by dementia. Founded in 2012, they fund vital research into the causes, diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and care of all forms of dementia, as well as the support services people need right now.

Because they cover all types of dementia, the money raised can make a real difference across a wide range of important research projects, helping not just in the future, but also supporting those living with dementia today.

💛 Donations for our stall would be hugely appreciated, whether on the day or passed to Lyn, Ann, or Rachel.

Thank you for your support, we hope to see you there!
