Stanley is ridden by Grace Carter and was 7th out of 45 in the BD Youth inter regionals. A brilliant effort!

There was a mist over the farm this morning and the ground was quite damp at 6 am. We got to Jebeth Sunspot's first BD test at Merristwood at 8.25am and home by 10 am after the two prelim tests.
An amazing run of red ribbons in the last three outings. Six tests and six wins. Two different judges today and 67 and 68% even with having a brief poo in the first one. Spot's last visit to Merristwood earlier this year resulted in being eliminated. We didn't know this could happen! We can only say we are making progres!

The last 2 Pachesham prelim efforts were between 66 and 68% without any hickups. Spot did see a mare he thought was a bit dishy and was about to follow her back to the lorry park when Sam told him 'No' and he listened!

At Merristwood today Spot was the only horse under 16 hands - a mere 13.2h.

Jebeth Sunspot has been a bit neglected in the past couple of weeks with all the showing of our lady Welshies. He has only been ridden once in the last week, in the school for under half an hour.

Today was BD and Sam wasn't expecting him to be good or do good tests, especially as they were doing two tests, a prelim and a novice which he definitely isn't ready for.

This outing was just to get him into a different environment and get him more familiar with other horses who come and go in his vicinity. (sometimes he isn't very good at that!)

He only managed one little hickup when he tried to follow the previous competitor back to the lorry park, but Sam insisted that wasn't a good idea.

I thought the Prelim went very well, but Sam said Spot was hard work and thought the judge must have thought so too.

Well the judge thought Spot was lovely and gave him 71.88% for the Prelim and 69+% for the Novice! Several 8's........... 2 firsts! The highest mark Spot has ever had. Recovering from the shock and doing lots of eating and sleeping for Spot.

Jebeth Don't Panic Again.

South of England show, 3rd in Veteran in hand class. (age 21)
She behaved very well - better than last year when she was eliminated!

We had not realised what a busy ring the class is held in. Next to steam engines and other noisey things like heavy horse turnouts.
She actually refused food until she got back in the horsebox! Panic refusing food is unheard of! Poor Panic was stressed by the noise and activity.
We always learn something new!

1st Adults Section C Herts County Show yesterday.
Reserve Champ Section C,
Her first outing for a couple of years. She travelled well and was a sensible girl at the show.

Sali is 35 this year. I have been removing her white winter coat to reveal the colour in this old photo. I stopped her by the entrance to her paddock where she has found all sorts of wonderful weeds to munch on. I have left a large pile of white fur for the jackdoors nests.
And I just heard a cuckoo! Did you hear that Sali?

South of England show today.
Merioneth Salandy Fly won the Veteran Horse Society In hand class and then won the championship of mixed ridden and In Hand 1st and 2nd placed animals.
Sali is 29 this year and after a slow start earlier this year, is now looking and behaving like a pony half her age.

She and the second placed pony are both Welsh Section Cs - such a wonderful advertisement for the breed.

Jebeth Sunspot and Sam Watson at London and SE Riding Clubs Dressage to music Championships. Spot got a wild card and after a lesson and the purchase of some music at an alternative speed and two days practice got 2nd place (75%!) in a huge Prelim class.

Jebeth Don't Panic Again had a trip to our local SEWPCA show yesterday, 3rd in Section C mares and reserve Veteran champ.
