- Funding the Bedser Hub for care of frail and elderly

- State of the art wet-room, for the Bradley Unit
- Conservatories for wards
- All 80 electronic beds in the Hospital

On Wednesday the 10th December the Trustees of the Friends of Woking Community Hospital and volunteers met bright and early on the lower floor of the Hospital to start decorating the corridors, wards and departments with Christmas Trees.
Just before 3pm the Mayor of Woking Cllr Amanda Boote joined the staff, patients and Trustees of FWCH on Alexandra Ward to celebrate the Annual Carol Service. Led by Revd. Lucy Brierley with her husband on guitar we started by singing Once in Royal David’s City with patients and staff enjoying the well-known carols. This carol was followed by the Mayor reading Jesus is Born (Luke2 v8-20) then another carol and lessons read by Gregg Hayman (Head of Estates WCH), Jon Allan (Chairman FWCH), and Victoria Moore (Hotel Services Manager WCH) all telling the story of the nativity interspersed by more favourite carols.
After the Carol Service everyone was refreshed by tea and mince pies whilst mingling together around the tree. A cheerful start to Christmas reminding us all what Christmas really all about!

FWCH had a successful afternoon at the Horsell Christmas Market selling book, Christmas Cards and decorations. We also gave out flyers telling customers what FWCH does. It was very busy and we raised £195 which was a good result. The Mayor of Woking Cllr Amanda Boote visited our stall, served by Stephen Maltby Treasurer and his wife Sue.

The Trustees were very sad to hear that Marie Whately has passed away recently. She was a fellow Trustee for many years supporting all our fund raising for Woking Community Hospital and will be missed by us all.

The Plant Sale was a success taking over £1200 on the day and overall profit about £1000. The lovely weather encouraged good numbers of visitors to the garden which was open as part of the Horsell Garden Safari. Many of them bought some of the shrubs, herbs, and compost available.
As ususal none of thjis would be possible without the support of local suppliers Plants Ltd, Compost Centre, R&G Herbs, Wickes, North Hill Nursery, Elm Nursery, Edwins, Squires, Tenaker Nursery, Daydawn Nursery, Waitrose, and Stafford Lake Nursery.
The Deputy Mayor Cllr Rob Leach and Will Forster MP both visited our Plant Sale which helps our profile!

The 55th AGM of the Friends of Woking Community Hospital was held in the Clinical Training Suite of the hospital on Friday 16th May 2025. We were invited to hold our AGM at the Woking Community Hospital to see the progress on the changes there. The Friends heard from the Chairman Jon Allan and Treasurer Stephen Maltby about the state of finances (which are very healthy) and the donations to the hospital over the last year. These included the refurbishment of Alexandra Ward, with a donation of £30,000, replacement garden furniture and new Christmas trees for the hospital.
The Friends had a tour of the new Diagnostic Hub with CT, MRI, and Ultrasound scanners.

The Friends of Woking Community Hospital held their annual Quiz Night on the 22nd March in Horsell Village Hall. Some 10 teams enjoyed eight rounds of varied questions from Quizmaster Barry Luckham ably assisted by Anne Luckham who kept the scoreboard. In between rounds a raffle of prizes largely donated by local businesses including the Hilton Hotel Woking, Red Lion, Boz, Thurstons Brewery, Seymours Estate Agents, and Apples and Pears.
The evening raised over £1400 so well worthwhile and a great effort by Barry Luckham Quizmaster assisted by Anne Luckham. We would also like to thank Barbara Hedges for organising the venue and Dr Tony and Mrs Margaret Shepheard for running thr Raffle.

The Trustees of the Friends of Woking Community Hospital with volunteers put up our new Christmas Trees around the Hospital yesterday. They were appreciated by all the staff and patients who saw them, and will remain up till the 3rd January. Special thank you to Barbara Hedges and Anne Luckham for organising them and having to negotiate with Homebase after the delivery was affected by the liquidation. We should also mention the Manager of Woking Homebase who managed to replace the trees held by the delivery company so we could still go ahead.
Unfortunately the Carol service was cancelled after an outbreak of Covid on Alexandra Ward.
