I’ve been a little quiet on here lately—life has been a bit of a juggling act trying to balance work, studying, and family! 🤹♀️ But it’s days like today that remind me exactly why I do what I do and how lucky I am to be a Music Therapist 🎶
Where else could my “office hours” involve helping a tween with ASD and ADHD improvise a rap about the Bristol Stool Scale 🎤💩 or putting on a puppet show with a 10-year-old to a very eclectic soundtrack? 🎭🎶
While it looks like pure chaos and fun from the outside, there is so much hard work happening behind the scenes. Each session was intentionally designed to work on:
Executive Functioning: Planning out the “setlist” and performance.
Emotional Expression: Using characters to say what’s hard to put into words.
Sensory Regulation: Managing energy levels through rhythm and movement.
Sustained Attention: Staying engaged in a complex, multi-step task.
Big thank you to for the photos
