Behind every person with dementia is a family carrying so much.
And sometimes, you carry it so quietly that no one sees how heavy it is.
The endless appointments.
The sleepless nights.
The worry that never seems to switch off.
But you deserve support too.
Here’s what can help:
🧡 Ask for a carer’s assessment
Local authorities can provide practical help, respite services, or even financial support for family carers. It’s not admitting defeat. It’s making sure you don’t burn out.
🧡 Consider respite care
A few hours or days of professional care can give you the chance to rest and recharge, knowing your loved one is in safe hands.
🧡 Join a dementia support group
Sharing with people who understand can lift a weight you didn’t realise you were holding.
🧡 Work with care professionals
At Sylvian Care, we not only support your loved one, but we support you, too with updates, advice, and a team that treats you like part of the family.
🧡 Give yourself permission to rest
Because you can’t pour from an empty cup.
You don’t have to do this alone.
Support is not a luxury. It’s what helps you keep showing up with the love and patience your loved one needs.
♻️ Share this if someone you know needs the reminder.

💙 Our lovely carer Tania noticed her client wasn’t feeling too chipper the other day, so she struck up a gentle chat with him. She asked, “If you could be anywhere right now, where would it be?”

Without hesitation, he said… “Australia!” 🇦🇺
When Tania asked what it reminded him of, he smiled and said… “Kangaroos!” 🦘

So, Tania sketched a kangaroo for him – and he happily coloured it in. Such a simple, thoughtful moment that sparked joy and connection. 💛

It’s the little things that make the biggest difference. 🌟

If you’ve ever felt alone in this journey, you’re not.
Dementia care can feel isolating.
But support exists.
And finding even a small circle of understanding can change everything.
🧡 Hope grows when we share it.
🧡 Strength builds when we lean on each other.
🧡 And community reminds us we’re not in this fight alone.
At Sylvian Care, we’re here for families and carers.
Because no one should have to walk this path by themselves.

Dementia doesn’t come with a manual.
And some days, it feels like you’re always one step behind.

But please remember:
Your presence means more than perfection.

You may not be able to stop the forgetting,
But you soften the fear that comes with it.
You may not always have the answers,
But you bring the safety of a familiar face.

You are doing enough.

Sometimes, just being there is the most powerful thing you can do.

“What we once enjoyed and deeply loved we can never lose, for all that we love deeply becomes part of us.”
— Helen Keller
When dementia changes the way we connect, love doesn’t disappear.
It lingers in the familiar songs they hum.
In the way their hand still fits in yours.
In the quiet moments where words aren’t needed at all.
Love is not erased by forgetting.
It’s woven into every part of who we are—and it stays.
🧡 At Sylvian Care, we know that dementia care is about more than routines and support.
It’s about holding onto what matters most: connection.

Not all dementia is the same.
And neither is the care each person needs.

🧠 Alzheimer’s
🩸 Vascular Dementia
🌙 Lewy Body Dementia
🗣️ Frontotemporal Dementia

Each type affects people differently: memory, mood, behaviour, even movement.
So when care is one-size-fits-all, it often misses the mark.

At Sylvian Care, we build personalised care plans that match your loved one’s needs, diagnosis, and preferences.
Because real support means seeing the person *behind* the condition.

🧡 You don’t have to navigate this alone.

Dementia takes many things.
But it can never take the love you carry for them.
Every shared laugh.
Every bedtime story.
Every moment that made them who they are to you,
It lives on in you, even when their memory fades.
🧡 And that love becomes the bridge.
The thing that steadies you on the hardest days.
The thing they can still feel… even if they can’t name it.
Because love leaves a mark deeper than memory.
📌 Save this as a reminder: what you do matters.

Agitation isn’t always anger.
Sometimes it’s fear.
Sometimes it’s pain.
Sometimes it’s just too much all at once.
Here’s what helps:
• Stay calm. A gentle tone can soothe more than words.
• Redirect, don’t argue. “Let’s sit by the window” works better than debating.
• Offer comfort in simple ways—folding towels, listening to music, or just sitting together.
• Reduce the noise. Lower lights, fewer distractions, quieter space.
• Validate their feelings. “It’s okay to feel this way. I’m here.”
Every reaction is a message.
And with patience, we can help bring peace when the world feels overwhelming.
🧡 Save this for the next hard moment.

“To care for those who once cared for us is one of the highest honors.”
— Tia Walker, The Inspired Caregiver
Caring for a loved one isn’t easy.
It’s demanding.
Emotional.
And at times, overwhelming.
But it’s also deeply meaningful.
Every meal prepared.
Every hand held.
Every quiet moment of comfort—
these are acts of love that matter more than words can say.
🧡 If you’re a carer, you’re doing something extraordinary.
Even on the days that feel ordinary.
📌 Save this as your reminder: What you do is seen. What you do is valued.
