Come and test your one rep max on Squat, Bench and Deadlift!! What this means?

Its going to be a relaxed meet, great for 1ST TIME LIFTERS to try out your 1 rep max + to introduce you to the competition environment + EXPERIENCED LIFTERS to test yourself in a competition environment before your next comp.

There will be a maximum of 25 LIFTERS (all lifting on the same bar) You get 3 attempts at each lift.

Rules are relaxed! Squats - below parallel and lift on command Bench - must touch chest and lift on command Deadlift - no hitching, no downward movement, no straps and lift on command.

Meet at PT:U 0830 , first lift 0930 Cost - ยฃ40 When? - Saturday November 26th 2022.

A huge thank you to everyone who attended, helped out and supported us on our โ€œOPEN DAY!โ€ on Saturday.

It was a huge success and we had an amazing day showcasing and celebrating the new improved 2.0 at our new awesome home at Pinewood Recreation Centre!

Collectively we raised over ยฃ450 for in memory of our client Kevin, who had worked with & in the past.

1๏ธโƒฃForm is King:

Correct form and posture whilst training will reduce the likelihood of sustaining an injury. Poor technique can lead to undue emphasis on muscles, tendons and ligaments leading to sprains and strains

2๏ธโƒฃThe Importance of Nutrition:

The truth is you cannot out train poor nutrition. Nothing beats having a well balanced diet to support your bodyโ€™s growth. Keeping your protein intake high will support the growth of new muscle tissue. Staying well hydrated is also key for the body to perform at optimal levels.

3๏ธโƒฃResults Take Time:

No one looked like Arnold Schwarzenegger after their first workout, so remember to be patient and trust the process. Stick to your workout regime whilst implementing new healthy eating habits, the results will follow.

4๏ธโƒฃHabits Beat Motivation:

Forming new daily + weekly habits will ensure you stay focused and achieve your fitness goals. Habits are more reliable and work predictably, motivation is different for each individual and varies from day to day.

5๏ธโƒฃDonโ€™t Compare Yourself to Others:

Comparison can be a huge distraction from your own internal work. When you spend too much time focusing on what others are doing, you end up losing sight of your own journey and personal goals.

1. Scott is a qualified GP referral coach ๐Ÿฅ He ran the GP referral scheme (stroke rehab, mental health issues, chronic obesity etc) at Carnival Pool in Wokingham

2. Walked 100km in 24 hours along the river thames helping raise ยฃ6000 with his team for charity

3. Before becoming a Personal Trainer Scott spent 3 years achieving his degree in sound engineering. He still plays guitar and may even sing you a song when you hit your fitness goals ๐ŸŽธ

4. Played rugby at Reading Rugby Football club from the age of 13 until 20 ๐Ÿ‰ The only reason Scott stopped playing was an due to a recurring shoulder injury.

5. Scott loves to ski and spends at least 1-2 weeks every year on the slopes โ›ท๐ŸŽฟโ„๏ธ

To say that I am proud of Grace and her year long fitness journey with myself would be a massive understatement. Not only has she successfully climbed Mt Fuji (charity event) and completed multiple half marathons, she has now lost a whopping 20kg which is 3st 2lbs ๐Ÿ”ฅ

That feeling you get when you hear gyms are re-opening! Who else is excited?! Here are my top 5 tips for getting back into gym life ๐Ÿ‹๐Ÿปโ€โ™€๏ธ:

1. Train like a beginner

Most of us will have all lost some strength & thatโ€™s perfectly normal. When we get back into the gym we have to back off a little to allow our bodies to readapt to the variety of stimulus & load we are now able to provide. Reduce load, focus on form & tempo & give your body a couple of weeks to build strength back up.

2. Keep it simple

Now is a great time to use either a full body workout or an upper / lower body split plan with limited exercises involved. Keep the exercises relatively simple & volume low. Weโ€™re all going to experience some serious DOMS & placing too much stress on individual muscles using โ€œbroโ€ splits might limit your rate of progress.

3. Focus on you & lower expectations

Now is not the time to be worrying about what others are doing in the gym. Who cares what other people are lifting or how they look. Your goal is unique to you & your capabilities. Donโ€™t be in a rush expecting too much too soon.

4. Keep moving

To limit DOMS keep active, even on our days off as this can help speed up the recovery process. Keep moving, either by going for a walk, bike ride, a swim or by doing some kind of active recovery circuit.

5. Become accountable

If youโ€™re feeling a little lost right now becoming accountable may just be the answer for you. It can help keep you on track whilst providing you with the structure & support you need during this difficult period. Your fitness progress doesnโ€™t have to be a solo journey.
