More than a visit. A connection. 🕊️

When people think of home care, they often imagine a quick checklist of tasks. But at Gabriel’s Angels, we know it’s so much more. It’s about stepping into someone’s life with respect, empathy, and a clear purpose.

From the first "good morning" to the final safety check, here is how we spend our day:
🌅 Mornings with Dignity: Whether it’s helping your loved one with a routine or preparing a favourite breakfast, we ensure the day starts with a calm, reassuring presence.

🫖 Midday Connection: Care isn't just clinical; it’s companionship. It’s sharing a cup of tea, chatting about the news, or helping with a gentle walk in the garden to keep life vibrant.

🌙 Evening Reassurance: As the day winds down, we focus on peace of mind. Nutritious meals, evening routines, and thorough safety checks ensure our clients feel secure and settled for the night.

Behind every visit is a foundation of rigorous training in our specialised facilities - because "Outstanding" care requires professional expertise as much as a kind heart.

More Than Just a "Sore": Why Skin Integrity is a Critical Sign of Quality Care 🔍

When a loved one has limited mobility, their skin becomes a vital indicator of the quality of care they are receiving. "Bed sores" (pressure ulcers) aren't just uncomfortable, they are preventable, and seeing them can be a red flag that care needs aren't being met.

Understanding the Stages (What to Look For):

In our training, we teach our carers to spot the progression immediately. Knowing these stages can save a life:
Stage 1 & 2: It starts with a persistent red mark where the blood supply has been restricted. If the skin breaks or looks like a shallow cut, that is a Stage 2 pressure sore.
Stage 3: This is where it becomes serious. You may see yellow, "fluffy" tissue - this is dead skin that requires urgent clinical attention.
Stage 4: The most severe stage. This is deep, often showing dark or black tissue, and can even reach the bone. These are incredibly painful and dangerous.

The Gabriel’s Angels Standard:
Prevention is our priority. "Outstanding" care means constant monitoring, correct repositioning, and ensuring skin stays healthy and nourished. We don't just "watch" for sores; we work proactively to ensure they never happen.

Not happy with the care your loved one is currently receiving? If you’ve spotted these signs and feel overwhelmed, it might be time to move to a team that prioritizes clinical safety and skin integrity.

Safety Isn’t Accidental - It’s Trained. 🛡️

At Gabriel’s Angels, we believe you shouldn't just "walk up and do this." For clients with limited mobility, a simple task like a bed-to-commode transfer requires technical skill, the right equipment, and absolute precision.

In this post, we’re inside our dedicated Training Room. 🎓

Before our carers ever enter a client's home in the Wokingham or Camberley area, they learn the equipment here first. This allows our team to:

Master the Equipment: Learning the ins and outs of the Oxford Hoist in a controlled environment.

The 'Double-Up' Standard: Practicing "double-up" calls to ensure two carers work in perfect sync for a client's safety.

Protecting Dignity: Finding the smoothest, most comfortable way to transfer a client so that their day starts with respect and ease.

We invest in our own training facilities because "Outstanding" care requires more than just a kind heart, it requires professional expertise.

When we arrive at your door, we’ve already put in the hours to ensure your loved one is in the safest possible hands.

🛏️ CHARLEVILLE CUDDLE BED 🛏️

A new bed that allows family members to lay beside each other during the palliative care process is making a difference at Charleville Hospital. 🫶

A cuddle bed was installed by the Belinda McGowan Foundation in December last year, made possible from a donation from the Charleville Hospital Auxiliary, a group that works to raise money to support the local hospital and community.

Group Director of Nursing and Midwifery Leanne Patton said it benefits both the individual who is dying and their family members.

“It’s a two way thing, it’s not just for the person who is dying, it’s also for the family members to give them some comfort," she said.

“We’ve already seen a great result with the couple of people who have used it."

Why Choose Live-In Care Over a Care Home?

Choosing between live-in care and a residential home is a big decision. But for many, the choice is about more than just medical support—it’s about independence.

Why families are choosing Live-In Care:
✨ Familiarity: Stay in the home you love, surrounded by your memories and pets.
✨ Control: You keep your own schedule. Breakfast at 10 AM? A walk in the garden? It’s your call.
✨ Togetherness: For couples, live-in care means staying under the same roof rather than being separated into different rooms or wards.

It’s personal, it’s consistent, and it’s home. 🕊️

That’s why Live-in Care is so different.

By working on agreed rotations, our carers provide:
✅ Continuity: No more “new faces” every few hours.
✅ Stability: Routines stay exactly how they like them.
✅ Comfort: Support is provided in the place they feel safest—home.

It’s more than just a service; it’s a dedicated companion who truly knows your loved one’s story. 📖✨
