We’re proud to announce a new partnership between GoodOaks Homecare Wokingham and Therapies on Thames 🤝
This collaboration is built around something we see every day in the community, the close link between dementia, mobility, and overall wellbeing.
In many cases, it’s not just dementia itself that leads families to seek support, but a noticeable decline in mobility. When someone becomes less confident moving around, it can quickly impact their independence, safety, and quality of life.
Through this partnership, clients of GoodOaks Homecare will now have access to specialist therapy services from Therapies on Thames. Following a consultation, those who are identified as needing additional support will be able to benefit from tailored therapeutic input designed to improve strength, balance, and confidence.
Maintaining mobility is crucial. Supporting people to get up, move, and remain active, even in small ways, can make a significant difference to both physical health and cognitive wellbeing.
It’s also important to recognise something many families experience. Out of love, it’s natural to take on more and more responsibilities for an elderly relativ, helping with every task to make life easier. However, over time this can have the unintended effect of reducing independence and limiting movement, which can accelerate decline.
Our joint approach focuses on empowering individuals, not just supporting them, encouraging safe independence wherever possible, and helping people regain the confidence to move around in their own homes.
We’re excited about what this partnership means for the Wokingham community and the positive impact it will have on those we care for 💙
