🌱✨ Celebrating Greener AHP Week in full bloom! ✨🌱

Colleagues from across the Trust came together at Sandwell greenspace for a vibrant seed swap, shining a spotlight on the incredible work of our Green Space Working Group 🌿

From Occupational Therapists and OT Assistants to Support Time and Recovery workers, the day was filled with connection, collaboration, and a shared passion for making a difference 💚

We heard truly inspiring stories from our greenspace lead, including powerful patient voices reminding us that “greenspace is their headspace.” For some, these spaces – and the connections built within them – have been life-changing, even life-saving.

The event beautifully brought the CHIME model to life:
🌼 Connectedness
🌼 Hope
🌼 Identity
🌼 Meaning
🌼 Empowerment

Our simple seed swap had a lasting impact—supporting sustainability, reducing waste, and helping green spaces continue to grow across our services 🌍

A fantastic opportunity to come together, boost wellbeing, and celebrate the vital role green spaces play in recovery.

Happy World Book Day! 📚

Did you know that the Trust has its very own Library and Knowledge Service? We’re here to support staff, students, and patients across three hospital-based libraries at Bushey Fields (Dudley), Dorothy Pattison (Walsall), and Penn (Wolverhampton).

Our libraries offer more than just books - you’ll find patient libraries, animal therapy sessions, reminiscence packs, health-related board games, and much more!

But perhaps our most surprising (and beloved) resource is Albert Spinestein - a life-sized plastic skeleton who plays a key role in student nurse training. He’s also something of a local celebrity on our Instagram (), often spotted in seasonal outfits and always ready to make people smile. You can usually find him in the window of the Penn Hospital library - give him a wave if you’re passing by!

Early diagnosis of cancer is vital; detecting a problem early on can mean that treatment is more effective.

Cancer experts will be visiting locations across Birmingham, the Black Country and Solihull on a bus dedicated to providing health checks and important screening information about cancer.

The bus aims to give our local communities the opportunity to not only catch any warning signs of cancer as early as possible, but it will also be a chance for people to talk to a host of professionals, from the NHS to MacMillan Cancer Support and Diabetes UK.

At the cancer bus, NHS staff and our partners will share signs to look out for, how to live the healthiest possible life and signpost you to useful services.

We’re delighted to share how our WorkWell programme is making a real difference and supporting people across the Black Country from ethnic minority and underrepresented communities to improve their health and access employment opportunities.

In its first year of delivery, the programme achieved 1,235 starts among people from ethnic minority and underrepresented backgrounds, representing 45% of all participants.

Working with trusted partners like The Refugee and Migrant Centre, local faith groups, and community networks, the programme is reaching people who may not have accessed support before.

As the programme continues into its second year, this community-first approach will remain aiming to continue helping to reduce inequalities and build a stronger, more inclusive future for the Black Country.
